Are DUI distributor worth the cost? I am considering adding an electronic distributor and wanted to hear comments related to the DUI brand or other suggestions anyone might have. I appreciate your help.
Thanks
Tom

No. Most are Chinese made and the bearings fail early. OEM dizzy will have ball bearings.

You've posted in the 60's forum. All the 60 Series should have an electronic dizzy. If you have an older 40 series with a 2F engine, you can install a newer 2F dizzy and upgrade your coil, eliminate the ballast resistor, and escape dealing with points.

I ran an MSD ignition off of a points dizzy and it reduced points servicing to 50k mile intervals. It requires a new coil to get any spark benefits. Best starting 2F I ever had.

However… the OE 60 distributor has advance curves designed for use with the factory smog equipment, which can result in too much advance without the mixture from EGR in play. And by now there are worn parts in many OE distributors that haven't been rebuilt that can allow even more advance by virtue of extra slop in the mechanism. So a non-rebuilt, factory advance OE distributor may not be the right compatibility for your truck.

Some other reasons to consider aftermarket ignition: possibility of a larger spark gap for potentially better mixture ignition, or electronic advance control if you do an EFI swap.

I've got a refurbished Toyota distributor for sale here on MUD. It's a '75/'76 2F vacuum retard points distributor converted to fully electronic ignition (using Toyota parts) and vacuum advance (using a new NipponDenso advancer):

I also have a '78 2F electronic distributor and several FJ60 electronic distributors ready to refurbish.

PM me if interested.
