drop down tailgate (real time)

I need to know what the measurements or for a drop down tailgate like this.I have a welder that i need to keep busy. Sorry I dont have time to search for this info .

Depending on how hard your truck has been wheeled that measurement is going to differ from truck to truck. Best idea is to measure yours and then you know it will fit.

In a ideal world thats what I would do , But in about 6 1/2 hours from my rig and an 1 1/2 in the bush up north .... Its not a big deal just figure i could get a basic measurement of the tailgate opening on a 72 . I have him building a rack right now . Just need to keep him working hahahaha any small projects would due with measurements.

Edit: Do you have someone near the rig that could take the measurement for you??

I just measured mine 41 1/4" X 15" X 1/2"
Edit: Mine is the one that you bolt in when you remove the top on a rig with amby doors, not an actual drop gate.

I'll measure mine tomorrow morning...it's glass, and actually I'm thinking of getting rid of it...I'd rather have something swing out, it always gets in the way folding down, one more thing in the way when someone is climbing in and out to the jump seats...PIA....

Thank you guys for the info .I had a rack like this built today and a dual battery holder built also. I will post picture of how it all turns out. I'm also going to have a dual Jerry can holder for the military cans built.

homemade tailgate for 77 fj40

any of you guys got any good pics or links for ideas for a homemade tailgate to replace ambulance doors on 77 fj40. Swing out or drop down is what I'm looking for, but any ideas would help.

stepdown is 40-3/4 X 14-1/2 X 5/8

Total depth is 1"

40 7/8 x15 1/8 Thats allowing an 1/8 reveal at all 3 sides.Mine is a soft top.
