Just about ready to go to the driveline shop for front and rear onto an H55 with splitcase (SOR ebrake conversion) and Ramjet. Also have a HFS 4" lift with 5-7/8" bolt to bolt shackles on rear.

I am going with an FJ60 double cardon driveline on the rear, with slip yoke from the original '72 FJ40 on the axle end. Strangely enough, when I put it all together, it fit almost perfectly, with only 1 inch of extension from driveline fully stuffed together to bolted in place. (No cutting, lengthening or shortening. Am I this lucky?)

I assume I'm OK here, as I've got at least 2 inches of yoke stuffed in the female driveline end and covering the splines.

On the front end, I ended up with the same situation, nearly 1" of extension (from fully stuffed) needed to firmly bolt in place. (this is a measurement, as the driveline guys will have to place a different bolt patterned flange onto the FJ60 slipyoke).

What do you all think? Do I need MORE initial extension from fully stuffed? LESS?

If I'm OK, I will just have them install new u-joints and balance. Anything else I'm missing?

Thanks :D

Must be a dumb question!

This rear driveline is about 21" overall with an angle of slightly less than 15 degrees. Only time will tell if I need to shim the rear axle to reduce the angle slightly.

But,...Right now I'm needing to know a generic question.

Do I build a driveline with MORE chance to compress ( as in more extension than the 1" I currently have, or LESS, or am I OK?

Do a spring flip (or 60 series rear springs) on the rear and the rear driveline will almost exactly match - the extra length of the gearbox is almost the same as the extra wheelbase.

Hi All:

I'd suggest measuring the distance between the flanges (T-case and pinion) tell it to the drive shaft shop. They can a 'shaft with those measurements.

As to what shop to take it to, look for a commercial truck shop (like Fleetpride.)

Good luck!

Alan
