The H55 is the NON US 5-speed correct? Can it be put into a 79 with NO tub mods? Was this the truck you needed the 83 trans cover for?

Thanks

Yes, this is the one that I need that shifter cover for....

From what I have been told and read out here, I will not need to mod the floor...

Guess we will find out...

Had he not took the truck to his farm yesterday, the H55 would probably be in there right now...and we would know for sure! :)

Oh,

Found the lit....I have not ever seen that one before. It is pretty nice!

I really want to know if that 5-speed just bolts up. I would love to put one in while the body is off.

The Lit pics are horrible and in hand it is MINT other than what I have listed.

Best,
Shane

Great job! It's amazing how even just a mild lift and taller tires wakes up the look of a Cruiser.

How much longer than stock are the shackles? Since HFS builds their springs for longer shackles, I'd be curious to hear what the castor measures compared to OEM specs.

The shackles are 2" longer than stock...

I am going to be changing out the spring center pin for one with a taller head, so that I can put a 2.5 or 4 degree shim in after I measure the castor...It seems to wander a bit, but the front axle has not had any attention paid to it either, and I do not know the condition of the knuckle bearings or other steering components. A frontendectomy is in this trucks future, along with steering upgrades.

Steve, is this Johns? That is one nice looking 40.

Yes it is. He is really happy with the upgrades and has a list of other goodies that the truck will get over the next year or so...

this must be the wheelin truck eh? too cool!

His '71 and the '79 are both 'wheelin trucks... ;) The tan one runs around at the farm and this one is going to go cross country, and be able to play on a bit more rugged terrain.....he has no intentions of pounding the rocks with either of these....if he ever wanted to do that, he can have the Red truck for a while and get his fix.

I 'spose I misspoke. I've seen the tan one out on the trails ;) . It's fun to see a group of 4 people in that truck running around the "hills"

So seven month later....

4 degree castor shims installed and all is good. Hands-off, strait down the road.

The owner of the Yellow truck pictured above really likes the HFS 4" suspension that is under the truck.

I do not have any first hand time with MAF springs....sorry.

OH MY GOD... IS THAT SHIM ALUMINUM!?!?!?!!?

I thought that Dresser people had to drive Mercedes on F250 chassis??
