They look ok. But WAAAAY overpriced and I don't like the strap downs one bit. I have the KISS system and, as simple as it is, it works perfectly for me. Just got back from a 6 day camping trip in the Rockies where my wife and I slept in the rear on an air mattress. Super comfortable and we setup our camp kitchen under a portable 10x10 canopy. I had our site setup in less than 15 minutes and tear down was just as quick. I LOVE the ARB system as it's on metal glides that lock, has locking handles and is already carpeted. But, my budget required something less robust :(

I don't like the open areas on the sides. There are a ton of threads on sleeping platforms. I have rear drawers that a buddy built me that I'm getting ready to sell. They take up too much room and limit what you can carry, in my opinion.

If you'd consider anything at that price level I'd just go with Trekboxx. The Trekboxx stuff is top notch and made by a community member.

If you want something more for sleeping, perhaps the SS1 that Kyle and I offer via Air Down Gear Up should be considered. We're launching a locking drawer soon - 100% extension, lock in, lock out, 250lb capacity.

I have considered buying or building a platform like this, but ultimately decided to just tent camp for now.

Yea, NO. Has water, and a stove. You gotta have a fridge. I could do much more with a little le$$.

There are a lot of great drawer systems out there, but I really like my drawer-less set-up. What you gain in organizability with drawers, you lose in other areas. Almost all the drawer systems nearly double the weight, add a ton of cost and complexity, and decrease the cargo capacity. I like cubbies you can stuff things into. With careful packing, nothing is rattling around and things are easy to find.

Recs on a good drawer system with sleeping capabilities? Member owned system preferred.

I'm biased here, but I think the SS1 from Air Down Gear Up is the best sleeper/drawer system out there. It's very modular and can range from simple and affordable up to top tier. Our drawers are lock in, lock out and 100% extension - something you don't find in any other product in our price category.

We also offer fast shipping. We just shipped a same day order yesterday that will arrive tomorrow. As order volumes have increased this year, we're now pre-packaging the popular kits so they're ready for immediate shipment on time sensitive orders. We try to keep ahead of demand so we often have kits in stock and ready. Let me or @Kyle Bell know if you have any questions!

Having used an ARB, I'm not sure I'd call them robust. The drawer stops are super fragile.

And something like 70% extension. I'm not sure how ARB settled on those drawers and slides. That system is a 9/10 for looks and an optimistic 4/10 for function.

Interesting. I've been largely happy with my KISS drawers. They certainly aren't "fancy", but they've been functional and have lasted for 2+ years of constant use.

I recently purchased a set of Drifta drawers for my LX. They are pricey but for the things I wanted in a set of drawers they were the best option. A sliding top is a necessity for me, so that narrowed it down to Drifta or ARB and the Driftas just seem like a better product, plus I dig the hidden slide-out table. If not for needing a sliding top I probably would’ve gone with the KISS drawers for much less money. Drifta is made in Australia but they ship regularly to Kakadu Camping on this side of the ocean and my timing was lucky enough that my wait time was only a few weeks. Just got word that they shipped today from British Columbia on their way to me. Also, they don’t charge sales tax. It’s expected to be self-reported by the customer... which I’ll certainly get right on.

Details on Drifta drawer systems:

I just bought my LX a month or so ago and made a lot of gear purchases right up front. Leather seat covers, awning, crossbars for a roof rack, fridge, weathertechs, and a bunch of other stuff. Matt at Kakadu Camping has been easiest vendor to buy from, work with, and has been very helpful and communicative. They made my biggest purchase the easiest of all of them so far.

So this is mostly a review of Kakadu as a retailer up to this point in a purchasing process on which you haven't received the drawers for yet?

These are extremely expensive, I hope they are as nice as they look.

That is correct. You may have noticed that purchasing gear during a pandemic is not the easiest thing. In the last month I have purchased a set of leather seat covers from a vendor who has so far avoided all my phone calls and emails and given me no idea whatsoever of when it may ship to me. I’ve purchased an awning from a different vendor who said it would arrive to me in 5 days only to later tell me it would ship in a month and a half. I have purchased a fridge from a vendor who said they had it in stock only to reverse course later and have it come direct from the manufacturer a week later than they told me. Most of these things are reasonable given the state of business right now. I’m not too bothered by any of it. But when I called Kakadu they gave me detailed information on the shipping process from Australia to them and from them to me. When i was worried about paying upfront and then having a lost shipping delay they let me postpone paying for it until the day they shipped it to me. They called me the day it arrived to them and they emailed me the day it shipped out to me, all without me having to chase anybody down. It’s the only item Ive purchased lately and gotten a tracking number for without having to chase it down. None of that is particularly remarkable but given the state of business with the other vendors I’ve bought from lately I find it to be worth a quick positive note.

I’m interested to hear a report once they’re installed. I’m planning a trailer build and I’ve been looking into a Drifta setup for it. I’ve also had quick responses from both Matt at Kakadu and from Drifta.
