I noticed that my drag link is bent. It seems that the PO put a sleeve on it to help straighten it. Well he was unsuccessful. If it is slightly bent should it be replaced? I am concerned that when I replace my suspension and shocks this possibly may interfere with the shock itself. Where can I pick one up if needed?

Usually it is the tie rod that is sleeved for strength, but the drag link and relay rod can be as well. My tie rod was sleeved with 1/4", and I still bent it. I bought a beefy budbuilt one and have not had any problems with it in 8 years. Mariln, budbuilt, trail-gear all sell them.

I think you can still get them with ends in stock form from toyota.

I'll second BudBuilt, beefy stuff and he'll make it to any length you want.
Price is very good also.

Dan:

I have the same problem on my '60. The Stab. Shock rubs on the drag link when wheeling. Is there a fix?

On your 60?

On the 40 series the steering box mounts just behind where your exhaust manifold down pipe is. From the box there is a drag link that goes up to the center box or BellCrank in front of the bib on the bottom of the frame.

On a 60 series, it is completely different since the box bolts to the frame about even with the front portion of the tire. The steering arms then go side to side.

Where is yours rubbing?

Wait until you get the lift on before you do anything. I'm going to bet your shock will want to occupy the same space. Only good way to fix that is to cut the lower shock mount off, move it out and weld it back on.
