Hi, I have an 06' GX470 with about 150k miles on it. I bought it 2 years ago and after a few months of ownership and towing a race trailer, I heard that ticking we've all come to recognize. Found out there was a sizeable hole in the drivers side manifold. My father in law owns a shop and we replaced it with all Lexus parts (about $800 total for new bolts gaskets, etc.). Last spring I started to hear it from the passenger side and bought a OEM manifold ($350 total). I decided to change that side on my own and spare my father in the law the exorbitant amount of time required to change out the manifold. After removing the old one, I found the new one didn't fit due to some shoddy welds and I was livid. Given I had to be at work the next day, I put the new gasket and bolts on and used the old manifold (which was stamped 2012 so I'm assuming it was changed around then). It worked ok for a few weeks but then I got the P0430 bank 2 code, which appears to be the cat is toast on the old manifold. To top it off I'm hearing to ticking from that side again. I have a free weekend coming up and am planning to get it fixed. It sounds like a lot of people like the Doug Thorley headers. From what I've read there's a little performance benefit and also they're less prone to cracking. I found a set of the long headers but was curious if they bolt into the stock Y-pipe, or if I'd need to get a new cat back system as well? Also I saw that URD sells an 02 simulator and I was wondering if that would fix the P0430 code and pass state inspection?
