Very Cool , they are done in South Africa, thanks hoser

I have one done by the Meano guys in 2003. Very useful and even the pick-up part in the rear quite spacious and below rear seat lots of spcae and with 4500 petrol engine more than enough power, but the quality of the rear doors not close to Toyota standard and needs regular repairs. Also extra fuel tank isntalled during conversion gave no end of trouble. THere are more than one other guy doing the same conversion, even here in Namibia

i Believe Stuart Bailey does em in South Africa, he has a damn good Rep here in Bots, dont no about his door quality though =)

Those 70 series pickup are so cool.

Too bad they are not available for us yanks up here in the States.

Instead we have the pseudo 70 Series pick up called jeep brute which ridiculously high priced around 60 to 80 grand ? puhlease...

No jeep is ever worth that much to me anyway.

How a double cab conversion is done...

YouTube - Four-Wheel Drive Episode-1 part2

I am in love with this 70 Series, the pick up especially, each time I see it. I vow that it is one those things I am gonna do before I die and that is to own a 70 Series Land Cruiser pick up.

We the yanks are so stupid. We have been fooled by the Michigan people (the big 3) for way too long. :bang:

They have brainwashed us into thinking that only chevy ford and chrysler make cars in this world. We even think that the world is USA, no bro, the world is a big place across the Pacific and across the Atlantic that's what I call the world.

I been to many places around the world and it is only after I left the US soil is when I realise there is life going on on the other side of the continent. The place where all these awesome Land Cruisers exist.

These 70 Series Land Cruisers that we don't have up here in the States are what I call real man 4x4's. They make mall-goer soccer mom SUV's, like hummer 3, jeeps etc, look like a bunch of empty beer cans in a recycling bin. Hummers or jeeps are phoney 4x4's they are FAKE they are weak sauce ! And now we have the phoney version of Land Cruiser 70 pick up called jeep brute? And they want 60 grand for one? Oh puhlease...seriously you must be a total idiot to pay 60 grand for one of those.

Anyway, enough yaking for tonight.

Kijang, I have both a 70 series and the mall cruiser 100 series and would say I like them both equally. I think the grass is greener on the other side of the fence. I have also traveled quite a bit and will say there is no place like home. Of course, that is just a matter of my own opinion.

Personally, I like the Brute and it is probably one Jeep that I would actually buy. A new 70 series will cost you nearly US$60k if it was available here. If you are dead set on a 75 series pick-up, you can surely have one in the US, it'll just cost you some extra coin.

I don't know your age but if you happen to be from the age 18-30, Australia has a program that makes it easy for you to get a work visa valid for up to 1 year. I don't qualify but would have done it if given the chance.

Employee shortage predicted for next year as some big projects kick off up north;)

IMHO Toyota set their prices too low on those Brand New 70 Series Land Cruisers. Yes sir too low. Why ? Simple. Two reasons, because number one it's Land Cruiser, not heep, and number two it's a Toyota !

He who dares to dispute the quality of Toyota vehicles let him cast his first stone (or e-stone I should say because we are cyber right now).

No one competes with Toyota. NO ONE ! Quality is not to be denominated by numbers, quality is PRICELESS.

On the other, I would never ever even considering paying 60 grand for a heep brute. It's embarassing to even hear they want that much for that tin-can 4x4 in the first place. It's a heep for crying out loud. No heep is ever worth that much to me. Never !

allow me to be first:
2LTE head problems (hell ALL the L series engines are s***)
oil journal plug the 3F 3FE
BEBs for the HDT and 1HZ
full time front drive 80 series (WTF, can you say money making unneeded wear?)
open front diff 1990+, weak casting design

shall i continue?

Toyota Kijang, you have already started a thread with your opinions on the Jeep brute. I don't understand why you keep hi-jacking other threads with this topic? We get it, you don't like it, so don't buy one.

As for the double cab conversion, it is very cool. I think the addition of the topper on the box really completes the look.

I'll argue the grass is greener'' Well I have a bj42 bj45 king cab and have been dreaming of a 70 series pick up and thinking yes it would be awesome. I do have a 70 series and I really like the steering on the 70, the addition of a rear pick up box in my life would certainly be useful.
So yes the grass is not only greener but sweeter on the other side ! So why not get on all sides ?
