Doors randomly unlock while driving and right speaker likes to buzz at times

Alright for a little while now my right front door speaker will from time to time quit playing music and will buzz, usually after I hit some sort of bump. If I turn the deck off and on again operation usually returns to normal. To me this kinda seems like it could be a lose wire, but I can't exactly explain at to why the behavior quits after a power cycle.

My other problem that may or may not be related is that ever since yesterday my door locks have been randomly unlocking themselves as I drive. It's very random and I can't find a pattern. Now the night before this happened I had my battery out since I was tightening the steering preload screw, but before I put the battery back in I did cleaned the terminals with a terminal cleaning wire brush.

So I'm quite stumped by these and would like some advice before I start tearing up wiring harnesses.

Oh yeah forgot to add that I have the RS3200 security system although I'm pretty sure this isn't the problem.

My truck used to unlock the doors when making a hard left turns. Brought it in for service (still under warranty). The dealer replaced the door lock module and the issue hasn't re-surfaced since. I'm not recommending replacing this module; but something to check...

Dunno about the buzzing speakers though.

Can't speak about the speaker problem, but I do think I know what's wrong with the door locks unlocking.

I can't tell you which one based on your post, but one (or more) of the door latches is loose. Depending on the model year, you have either 2 or 4 screws holding the "U" shaped latch on the "B" and "C" pillars. Check these screws. If one's loose even a little bit, you'll have a problem.

I had the same problem on mine a while back -- one of the screws on the passenger side front door was loose. Everytime I made a left turn or drove on a bumpy road, the light on the dash (indicating an open door) would light up, the dome light would flash, and the doors would unlock.

Now that you mentioned it...During that time, I DID have to tighten my driver door latch (loosen) due to some wind noise I were experiencing - may be that's the real fix for my problem.

I have noticed sililar issues. When you say you had to tighten your door latch, what piece are you refering to?

Tighten the screws on the "U-bolt" shaped latch on the body of the rig -- either on the "B" pillar (for the front door) or "C" pillar (for the rear door). It's the thing that the door latches on to when you close the door. About a 1/10 job.

Well I checked the latches and they all seem tight. Oddly enough I didn't try to tighten them to make sure. Guess I'll do that tonight. Also I checked to see if the door light on the dash was coming on when the doors would unlock but it isn't.

Now one thing I do have that is not quite right is the door sensor to the US drivers side rear door doesn't work so well. When the door is open the dome light tends to flicker, go out, or not come on at all. So my current theory is this sensor is causing my problems with the doors unlocking. Although I find it odd that if it is the sensor that I don't see the door open light on the dash light up.

I played with this sensor a little last night (didn't make it work any better unfortunately) and the doors weren't unlocking on the way to work this morning. We'll see how it goes. My other theory could be the alarm system is going insane.

As for the stereo I think either something in the amp is going, or something in my new refurbished deck is going. It's the right front channel that goes. Both of the right front channel speakers get static-y when the problem arises.

I should've mentioned that they'd seem solid if you try to "wiggle" them. It was only when I took the screwdriver to it that I found that 2 of the 4 screws (this was on a '94 -- they have 4 screws per latch -- the '97 has 2 screws per latch; I don't know when they changed this).

The door sensor could be the problem. I think the loose latch causes the door to open just enough to trigger the sensor. If you have a bad or sticky sensor, maybe that's the problem. ???

The "latch" or "lock" is inside the door. The loop piece on the pillar is the "striker"

I decided to do a followup on this.

Well I believe my stereo problem was due to a wire from the harness that goes to the amp being too close to the ECU. After I made sure all the wires from the amp were somewhat shielded from the ECU my buzzing in my speaker went away.

As for the door lock I'm still stumped. My current theory is that the key lock in the drivers door has something do do with it. The doors will unlock sometimes when I slam the door shut. Also jiggling the door sometimes causes the doors to unlock. This is with or without the key in the ignition. I'm going to try playing with the lock tomorrow to see if it is indeed the problem.

By posting this on the board I'm hoping to jinx myself if in fact this wasn't the problem and the behavior has gone dormant yet again. After a couple days I should be certain if this was in fact the problem.
