any one done or seen it done ??? I was thinkin of welding tubbin into my door right above the door handle so they dont cave in as bad .... I;m tired of makin new rear doors every 6 months... cause now I need to cut the bottom 2or 3 in out of them and tub-em so my tires clear ..... any links to pics y'all have seen or am I in my own world of problems with my big A$$ truck :hillbilly: you can see how bent on the door is in the pics and this was after a hour bashing it out with a hammer so it would open again  anyway I want o weld a tube at the body line above the door handle to brace it ??? think its a waist of time ?? or a good idea ... I dont want to remove the doors yet the kiddos sit back there alot ...not when the doors get smashed mind you ... so I want to keep em to protect them

you should have built a buggy. :flipoff2:

just kiddin... I think it sounds like a good idea. Do it so I can copy you. :)

I know I;m workin on it ... one rock at a time :steer:

I thought I would be the ginnie pig on this one I havent even seen the p/u guys do it ... but it seems like every one just takes the doors off :meh:

yeah... most p/u guys seem like they eventually just lose the doors. I'm going to bend up some tube doors with removable skins here shortly. Seems like that should do the trick.

Lol, oh to have such a problem with your truck. :)

I'll be looking into reinforcing my half doors when I get around to them. That won't be for another 6 months or year though. I'll be watchin.

If you come to Alaska with half-doors, we'll have to steal your bug spray... that would be a good show. :flipoff2: Make sure you have a way to close it in.

You might could get some ideas from a visit to the local boneyard; hunt for newer small cars that've been cut up. They save weight by using thinner metal (or plastic) on the doors & placing hi-tech reinforcements inside.

A visit to the local Fire Academy during extrication training might have the same results.

My old 2000 exploder was a good example of this. It has cross bracing inside the doors.

Half doors would only be for summer and california wheelin. Long distance travel would get the regular doors.:D
