At least you still have both and can objectively see the differences between them, as opposed to having traded in your 200 (or even worse never had one) and keep making delusional arguments to defend the light duty Prado, so you can feel better and justify your purchase. This is the essence of the 250 forum if you dare to say anything bad about the Prado.
beautifully said!!!!!

Locally, twice in the last 10 days I've been parked near a new 250....
The first time, I saw the guy who just parked and I said "how do you like the new LC" he said "great" and made a comment about me having an "old one" I walked away with a very satisfied smile on my face!

Second time I was with my family going to lunch, I parked right next to a 250 and my 19yo son says, "dad yours looks much beefier than that one"

I have seen a couple other nicely lifted 250's around and really like them for what they are, a Toyota! And it will definitely last 10 years longer than any new Bronco.

I certainly prefer my 200 over the 250 for a lot of reasons. But that doesn’t mean the 250 is bad. There are very few, if any, new trucks I would buy ahead of a 250 (particularly a GX550 OT) if I were buying new (and had any disposable income left to spend!). Definitely not a bronco, jeep, or Land Rover. Maybe Ineos Grenadier. That’s about it.

100% this. IMO the "hate" for the 250 comes from people trying to compare with the 200 and (for obvious reasons) find it lacking. The trucks are just not in the same category. The 250 is still a Toyota, so will always be miles ahead better than any Ford, Jeep, LR, etc. but it will not be a 200. Hack, not even the 300 is a 200... :rolleyes:but that is another conversation.

That said, those comparing are not entirely wrong because of Toyota's marketing deceptively using the "new Land Cruiser" catch for the 250, right after dropping the 200. If they had simply said we are NOT bringing the Land Cruiser (300) to the US, but here you go, this is the Land Cruiser Prado - a better and improved 4Runner or GX460. Problem solved. Nobody in the right mind would be comparing with the 200.

Be careful. People get upset if you say the 200 is better than the 300. But it is.

yup, well said as always.

What you say, They do it in other parts of the world.. but MMMMMMerica is special... and people are easily fooled, and Toyota is laughing all the way to the bank.... can't blame em.

The MUD family has driven over this topic almost to the point where I’m not even sure what we are debating. I will be the first to raise my hand and state I love ALL the Landcruiser models! They are all different and have unique characteristics but each model kicks azz. It’s cool to see the changes through time on each new model. Toyota decided to slim down the current iteration J250 but still equip it with a very capable all wheel drive system and a 2400 watt inverter to power an entire campsite. A lower price point means more people can buy one to enjoy and the retro styling pays homage to previous models. All in all…it’s a kool and very capable, unique SUV in the Toyota product lineup. 👍

Heresy detected - this is the land of the 200. All other platforms and series are inferior.

Your penance is to do 10 hail headgaskets at the altar of CCN (all hail his name).

this kind of well reasoned, logical, post made by a gentleman is not befitting this forum as of late!!!

200 > 300 > 250

repeat it always and twice on Sunday (thats the day us 200 owners flex our 34s on a rock in the neighborhood)

Very good points and agreed, except that Toyota did NOT slim down the Prado 250, it buffed UP from the 4Runner 5th gen (aka Prado in the US) and GX460 (aka Prado-Lexus in the US). You just gotta make the right comparison.

Waiting for Toyota to make the Land Cruiser Jimny. For real. Take "light duty" to the max. I would drive the crap out of one.

They nerfed the top end to buff the low end, and now we settle for mediocrity for the new LC nameplate. No longer is the LC the top dog for Toyota (at least in the States).
