Hey group, I love all this professional help. I'm getting ready to start MY 60 disc assemblys onto a '74 front end,(and I PROMISE to document with pics.) I have been following Diggers thread, and at SLO's advice, read all of Guppies Mini truck conversion thread, Both were a LOT of help, and has given me a lot of confidence. ONE PROBLEM, FIRST, I need to install the new ARB I bought, since I will have both axles out anyway. Does anyone know of an install thread for putting an ARB locker in a FJ40? I read the FAQ's but couldn't find one. I did find a good tutorial on Pirates4X4 for installing an ARB in a GM 14 bolt carrier, but I would like one on an actual cruiser. I am FAIRLY experienced and feel that with my buddys machine tools I can do this myself.
I have installed crush sleeves before and changed out bearings, but after all, THIS IS MY CRUISER !!! Thanks Randall AKA Ojai:steer:

Thanks Mark,...

Thanks Mark,...I will go there , and I will document the process, as soon as I get my hair done, In case I'm in any of the pics. Randall

Gee, Mark, you act like that's a bad thing, I couldn't help but notice all the other "cruiserheads" always appear to be all dressed up like they are going to a wedding....

I installed an ARB locker in my front axle a few months ago. The documentation ARB sent me was pretty good, plus you should grab a factory service manual so you have torque specs for all your bolts. The only previous differential experience I had was putting a new ring and pinion in the rear the month before. It's really not that tough on a toyota axle. The ability to adjust bearing pre-load and backlash with adjusting nuts instead of shims is a lifesaver.
