You know what really angers me? Senior dogs that are dumped. These good boys loved their humans for 10+ years, but were dumped as a reward.

We took these two good boys to Old Friends in Gallatin Tennessee for hospice care. No serious medical issues, but will receive the love and affection they should've received.

Glad you are taking care of them. I can't imagine doing that. Never enough time with my pups.

For regular readers the “ Dogs of MUD” … we’ve finally had it happen. I have a long time friend and neurologist veterinarian who asked me why we just didn’t t go to St. Hubert’s animal rescue in North Jersey if we were looking to adopt another dog. This gigantic shelter never even popped up on a web search when I have been looking for the last 4 months. Took us 2 hours to go up there and this facility is huge. The take overflow dogs from other shelters

The dog I saw online said “ good with other dogs and children”. The adoption counselor we met with said ….” She is not friendly with other dogs” so we decided to look at their adoptable dogs and found Stella. She is a Labrador retriever…we figured between Ruby and Stella they would be happy and goofy together…

It’s about 7 hours now…she fits right in.

Our 2 just smell feral at the moment, and are only allowed in to provide a self-guided vacuum service... or at least one does that, the other goes to the bit near the fire they know is a bed and just lies there watching the 8 month old bub (who has created the need for the vacuum service by launching food everywhere)

Here’s an update : it’s been 4 days… the website listed her as being 3 yrs old. Going to vet tomorrow but I just can’t believe she is even 1 yr old and I would almost say 8 months…. She’s a pleasure living with except last night when At 3;30 am she decides to bark. She’s got a deep howling bark. After a random 90 minute disruption we got up and made the coffee…it’s 11:35pm she’s out like a light

Sassy will do the same thing, she hears things in the yard raccoons, possums, skunks, and neighborhood cats.
I don’t scold her because it’s her job and if there’s ever a two legged intruder I want her to alert us.
It’s how she got skunked. 3am in the morning last week needless to say we didn’t get back to sleep 😵‍💫

The old dog is the pain here, she barks at everything (fox and cats mainly) given a chance... which then sets the other dog off (and he doesn't have an off switch)... so she's on a chain over night on the verandah now.

Boy dog is very good at barking at what he needs to - I went out the gate to look at something late (11pm-ish) one evening, and then came back in... to be greeted by him flying down the yard at me giving a good deep bark. So pleased to see he knows what he is supposed to bark at.

Flip side, both dogs ignore the possums and the 'roos in the paddock, and the Tawney Frog Mouth on the fence, which is a win. And during the day, the lorikeets, rosellas, golahs and finches all get ignored when they're on the grass eating all the seeds and bits.

UPDATE; our new adopted whirlwind . They seem to be working out well…

Nice cool morning for a change. I let the new pup out to watch me measure some wood for this set of steps. She looked so content so here she is
