I'm running the Milford in my 60 and it works great. Can easily be moved behind the front seats with the rear down or stay behind the rear seat when it's up. Very strong and can be removed or installed in 10 minutes or less.

I stand corrected....thanks Toy350. Man-a-fre had me under the impression that it was a "permanent" install. Might just have to reconsider purchasing one for our rig ;)

Hey, if you get bored, post some pics of it moved up behind the front seats with the rear seat down and when the rear seat back is up.

Swank & Jman...

he is a very mellow dog ... i would not have even let him near my kids if he was not... let alone own him.... as far as crates go... size is an issue we've just decided to let him roam at night which is a natural tendancy for the breed. they were orignally bred as Turkish palace guard dogs and they travelled in packs.... can you imagine a pack of these!!?!?!?!?!?

any way as for in the car it took us about 30 minuits to train him not to put more than his head over the back seat... i just takes patience and rewards.... goooood booyyy ... when he is not expecting it while laying in the back and such....

good luck

the Milford mounts are perment, but the Milford detaches from them pretty easy, just some knobs, I think 4 of them, mine has not been out sense I put it in. Its actaully designed to be moved from the rear to just behind the driver/pass seats. Comes with 2 sets of mounts.

this is in my 80

I'm glad to see you didn't follow the "DO NOT ATTACH ANYTHING" instrucitons of your Milford either. I have my fire extinguisher, maglite and sub attached to the back of mine. It's just too perfect to use some zip ties and attach stuff.

I will try to get some links to some pics too.

He's a well trained dog...

Dan J-

He stays in the back 98% of the time, but he sheds like a 3week-old roadkill and slobbers 1.3 qts. per min. He's a Laverick English setter (the larger variety, and very handsome I might add), but very messy. Just trying to keep the flotsom and jetsom in the cargo area since we have 2 very small kids and I sometimes use the truck to transport clean, suit and tie type clients.

Regardless, Riley gets to go ridin'.... Hell with the suits.

due to my lab living in my 80 for 6 years.......its now unfit for clients.......I just bought another cruiser(or 12) and Beau is not allowed in them.

Having a dog in the truck is like letting your kids eat in the truck. Both are messy, and it's hard to break the habbit.

I let my dog travel in both of our trucks. I use a grey wool WWII blanket in the back of the 60. It matches the grey interior perfect. The wool does a great job of catching the hair and slobber. I just throw it in the wash once a week to clean it. Really helps to keep the hair and smell down in the truck. I also have a light brown and olive that would look good in the brown interior 60s. You can pick one up at an army surplus for next to nothing.

It has also come in handy when you have to get under the truck when off road or on the side of the road. On most of mine I also cut a slit down the middle just large enough for my head to fit through. This makes a nice conversion poncho in the winter when you forget a jacket.

Just some ideas. Probably more than you wanted.

Dan J:

Good looking dog...and it saved you the expense and hassle of having to buy/install a winch ;^)

Plattsmouth boy eh? I'm from Omaha...my Dad's from South Bend...Cass County...

Landpimp - I liked your photo so well (and can relate - having a similar type dog and all...), it is now our PC desktop. I do what I can to let our dog be as much of a dog as he can be. "Tongue Wagging" out the back window definitely falls into the "letting dogs be dogs" category.

mbb - What type of cargo liner do you have? There is so much yellow lab hair in my carpet I'm starting to feel like a dog myself!! Yours looks easy to wipe clean?

holy old post revival Batman!!

A crate is the ONLY proper way to secure a dog in a vehicle. Rear end someone at speed with a dog loose in the cargo area is a tragedy waiting to happen. Dog rockets through the front windshield, not pretty. The cargo barriers will either a) fail and result in the dog and cargo barrier flying forward and injuring the dog and passengers, b) the cargo barrier doesn't fail and the dog slams into the barrier and is injured. CRATE, CRATE, CRATE the dog!! besides it helps keep the hair, drool and smell to a minimum. Who wants to ride in a rig that smells like dog? In fact its one of my biggest knocks on the 60 for my use. I run Bird dogs and having to smell a dog that has been skunked, rolled in something dead or has a case of the farts gets real old on a long road trip.

Kinda funny... I never look at those adds at the bottom. this one might be useful...

cool. what's the wood for?

Another dog owner for crates. In a collision, its much safer.

That being said, when I was a kid, we let the dogs ride up front
in our ranch pickup, or in the back. But never when on the highway.

It's a cargo mat I got from CCOT. I couldn't find it on their website when I did a search just now, but I tracked down an old post with a link that is still active. It's on sale, too!

buy a 40

You could just buy a 40 and cruise with the old wet nose sniffin away. no seriously this hound goes with me every where work sites, grocery, beer, stores it don't matter he is goin. has managed to destroy both ford truck seats with the fur, dirt, mud etc and on top of it all he flat out refuses to get in the back of the wifes pathfinder where he can stretch out and make as much mess as wanted. my 2 cents:) 1 from ford
