Just a heads up for all you pet owners.

This recall is for A BUNCH of different brands of canned and pouched pet foods(not Eukanuba and Iams specifically):
Recalled Dog Products
Recalled Cat Products

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17650075/?GT1=9145

"Eukanuba, Iams, Wellness<and many others> and store brands tied to kidney failure, deaths
.....
WASHINGTON - A major manufacturer of dog and cat food sold under Wal-Mart, Safeway, Kroger and other store brands recalled 60 million containers of wet pet food Friday after reports of kidney failure and deaths."

All that food is crap anyway and you shouldn't be feeding your pets any of that garbage. Way too much "filler."

I just switched my 10-yr-old retriever over from Blackwood 3000 to Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul(Senior). He was gettin' a bit chunky. Completely holistic with none of the other crap many dog foods add.

TTT for all those with internet connections but no access to news sites, TV news or newspapers...

Scary stuff! I forgot to get cat food a few weeks ago and may have saved their lives in doing so! I love my cats!

"...The recall is limited to "cuts and gravy" style pet food in cans and pouches
manufactured at two of the Fund's United States facilities. These products are both manufactured and sold under private-label and are
contract-manufactured for some national brands..."

Wow. A lot of "quality" products affected:
Recalled Dog Products
Recalled Cat Products

Surprised to see Authority and Nutro on there.

Thanks for the reminder and heads up. Funny, I always considerd Iams and Eukanuba to be a premium food.

We feed our dog Wellness Whitefish and Sweet Potato. Hey that sounds pretty good actually...

Must have been the fancy names that threw me off. There's marketing for ya!

Both contain corn meal=crap for your pup. A good dog food shouldn't have meat by-products or "filler" such as corn meal.

Luckily, the only food that my 14 year old lab will eat is not on the list. I was sweating bullets when I read about this.

Connie cooks chicken and rice for our old hounds.......:D

The link lists the Brand names. When you click it to get the date codes the link does not work.

I'm specifically looking for information on Ol'Roy dog food in pouches. The packages have a best by date on them but no production codes.

Any help?

Updated article says:
"A federal investigation is focusing on wheat gluten as the likely source of contamination...The ingredient, a protein source, is commonly used as filler."

Like I've been saying, "fillers" are bad news. If you're feeding your pets this kind of s***, you've got to switch foods. It's like feeding your dog or cat McDonalds everyday. Spend the extra little bit a month on a premium and natural pet food so your pets stay healthy and live long and happy lives.
That's my opinion, and I'm stickin' to it.:flipoff2:

Geez. I'm startin' to sound like Eric.

All of those recalled cans came from one manufacturer with two plants in the US (one here in Emporia, KS). Wonder how much the recipe changes with the label they put on it?

Once in awhile they have a damaged can sale where you can buy a full flat of cat or dog food for $1 - with no labels of course. You don't know exactly what "brand" you are getting, but how different can they be?

I feed my dog 100% beef, lamb or kangaroo. It comes from a pet food factory and is guaranteed no additives of any kind.

I dont think dogs stomachs were designed for cooked food or grain.
She thrives on it

Best part about ,its actually cheaper than the canned and processed crap;)

It's very dificult to get fresh Kangaroo in California. LOL

I can get tons of it from the side of the road when they are on the move:D

Camel is also popular but it just goes into the Free Range variety which is probably wild donkey, horse ,goat and water buffalo and anything else that falls over from a .243 bullet;)

Did you know in England they produce about 40% more pet food that can be consumed by animals?
Someone must like that gravy taste:D
