I have a "blank" button on the dash. It can not be pressed with the blank in place. However when I remove the blank, there is a button that can be depressed.

One press activates a lower light in the button. Another press activates another light. One more and it turns off.

Am I doing anything when pressing this button? Why is it there and what is it?

On the FJ Cruiser, ATRAC was an option. There is a blank button in place of the "live" button. But, for $25 bucks, you could buy the ATRAC button and POOF - you had fully functioning ATRAC. Turns out, all FJCs come with it standard...

So Toyota has hidden cool features before - maybe this is another ;-)

Anyone tracked down the wires? Sounds like a great place for a ready-made switch for lights or something.

You mean the below button?

RobRed tracked down a few of the non-blanks for this button location. He and I installed and traced back a few of the wires. We were running the "rear Hi/Lo" button in our trucks for testing but the project's been stalled. So many other projects taking priority and both of us with new jobs.

If I remember right, all trucks are wired for the "rear" (more of a "mid") heater. If you get "rear A/C", Toy skips out on the actual button for rear heater as the rear A/C does A/C and heater.

My dream is to use the button for hi/lo seat ventilation. We'll see however. .. ..
