Can you tell what's behind that diamond plate?

...and what's that bolted to the tub in the first pic?
Nevermind, I can tell now.

Diamond plate usually = rust bucket. Looks like someone's painted over alot of rust too, plus there's some bogus patches already by the looks of the pop rivets. You would save yourself alot of headaches with a new tub.

Your tub looks very familiar to me. Trust me there is a lot of work there! :bang:

Do like as said and consider a brand new tub. It will cost you some dollars but save you lots of time and headaches.

Check out www.pacolonline.com

1/2 tub $2850
3/4 tub $5100
1/1 tub $7700

I did get a quote on a used tub for $1500 recently but honestly couldnt tell how much better it was than mine, so I passed.

Good luck.

I have seen others on this board bring far worse back to life... Mine doesn't look that good, and I intend to pull the tub at some point and fix it myself. Can't wait to learn how to weld and do body work :)

Keep track of the hours spent. Charge yourself $10 per hour.

when you are done add up the metal and the time.

You will see it was cheaper to buy a Tub.

But hey, GO FOR IT!

That looks ugly. You would have to wonder what other suprises you are going to find.
Even a small amount of rust can often hide larger problems, and from what I'm seeing you will find much more. Spray foam and sheetmetal over rust is a bad sign. Probably be cheaper to buy a tub either used or new.

Whats the frame and front end look like? Maybe well beyond just a tub! Mike

All 79'-83's need tubs, or atleast a rear tub, ambi bottoms, front fenders and front floors, possibly rear inner wheel wells and maybe a bed floor.....:hmm: wait, just buy a tub. Or patch N' wheel!
