My father in law is cleaning out his parent's house and asked if I would be interested in a land cruiser that has been sitting in their front yard for the last 5 years. It apparently was making a loud noise out of the right front and my father in laws dad parked it 5+ years ago. I have an 82 FJ40 but never owned a 60. I will post more details when I find out more about the issues, miles, pics, etc. any advice if I am thinking about driving it back from Az to Ca.

do it! smog might be fun though...

if you do get it here and decide you dont want it, i would like a parts cruiser in the future lol

Definitly look into it. Even if it isnt driveable. The parts alone are valuable to alot of people on here.

Yeah, if you can get it running well enough to get it to CA then get yourself a Temporary Move Cert and then do a registered Non-Op on it as soon as you get it into town. Guarantee that after sitting that long it is not going to pass CARB/SMOG right away. Might as well take your time building it up and then get things right.

Hmmm Arizona cruiser been sitting for awhile...not sure it may be easier for me to help take off your hands?:hillbilly:

Can't wait to see some pics!

First pic I have received, going to my father in law's construction yard tomorrow to have the yard mechanic take a look. Looks awfully straight and no signs of rust in the rear quarters....

will post more pics tomorrow as they dig into it.

You'll need a batt, of course, dump the gas, if you can, put in a few gallons of fresh, change the oil, pull the plugs and squirt a little Marvel Mystery oil in each cyl and see what happens.

Good luck.

Good find x2. Pay close attention to the smog stuff, if much is missing its gonna be stupid pricey to register in CA.

Your a lucky man!

Fresh gas, fresh battery, turns over strong but not starting...mechanic couldn't make it today but will look at it tomorrow...clogged fuel filter, fuel pump, fuel regulator? Tank was bone dry and with three gallons of gas the fuel level still said completely empty. Yard mechanic is going to drop the tank tomorrow and see what he can find.

Fuel sending unit could of went bad. Try starting it on a jump or fresh battery. Check the air filter and maf sensor?

Towed to the yard, first picture of the driver's side, gash in the front door. Gas tank, fuel pump will be looked at tomorrow! Was hoping to fly out and drive back this week but may need another week.

Looks great. Georg at Valley Hybrids in Stockton will likely have anything you need. He keeps my 1982 FJ60 and my 1990 FJ62 on the road.
He goes by OrangeFJ45 on Mud
