does the 80 flex better than this ? (1 Viewer)

"Appears" how? Your entitled to you opinion, but stock to stock I'd like to see the numbers that back up your claim. Same goes to Good4080. My guess is you won't able to find any. The 200 may have more bells and whistles but it remains a great expedition/overland vehicle.

RTI (that's a very cool group of photos you posted, BTW) only tells a very very small portion of the story. I've seen vehicles that could drive off the end of an RTI ramp and are horrible for crawling. I've seen others that score awesome going up....but not so good backing up it. (And of course I've also seen some that do awesome at RTI and still rock in the rocks.)

Slee did a 3 link 80 that he said rocked RTI (Blueberry? Can't remember). But he also said it stunk in the rocks (floppy jalopy).

I would suspect that the IFS of the 100 and 200 series really limits it's overall performance. Don't get me wrong, Toyota is doing some very cool things with IFS but even they realize that it's a huge limiting factor (one of their big points was the extra flex of the 200 series over the 100 series in the IFS).

And of course you can have a super flexy back end, but if your front is as stiff as a board, it doesn't matter, you'll still get tire lifts. That's why the poor man's 3 link is pretty popular with the 80's (and removing or disconnecting sway bars).

As Corbett said, the 100 and 200 series are setup in the back virtually the same as the 80. It's primarily the front end that limits them.

Thanks for the compliment:beer: You really owe it to yourself to get out to Moab, man it is really fun to see and feel what these rigs can do on slickrock...such a blast and so many great trails.

The 105 does have the 80 suspension IIRC...The 105 appears to have done the best on the ramp...

It looks like that yellow line is showing the 200 slightly higher on the ramp?

heres a little flex

Quick story (sorry to bore you):
Quite a while ago I was mudding with some folks. Picture a 50F, wet night, bachelor party, with a big flood plain full of ponds. One guy had a Jeep Cherokee who quit early. "The bachelor" claimed I could make it through a huge pond about 4' deep. I did and packed 8 guys in for rides thru the pond. Fun was over and we were heading back to the house. I saw a little puddle and figured I'd sit in it, then "floor it" and jump out of it back on the road. Sadly, I SUNK bad! We rocked and worked on it. Then the Jeep guy (this is where the "flex" comes in) says "you broke your back axle". One wheel was stuffed in the wheel well looking like a broke axle. I said "Oh &*^%", then looked at the other wheel, couldn't see it, deep in the mud. Weird looking site like these photos. We tractored it out and still having fun today.

that one comes up from time to time, don't think Slee built it it was someone who worked at his shop. But he has said time and again it was a floppy jalopy

funny, I've had people ask me what I broke on my truck from some photos in the past - rear does look broke in some full flex photos.

My rig is completely stock... some pictures from today. I had to modify one of the pictures due to lighting.

Not stock suspension here (and not my rig), but I think you'll get the point...
