Well it's finals week and I just got to thinking about my cruiser (again ::)) waitin' for me back home, classes are driving me nuts, so i got a question for ya. When i bought this rig the guy said he thought it might have small lift in it but really didn't know. I was skeptical but it wasn't the reason i was buying the rig anyway, and the guy was really nice, definitely not trying to rip me off.

So anyway, i got to thinking about it later and it does seem to sit a little higher but i have never had it beside a stock cruiser to see. Here's a pic, does it look tall to you? Maybe some of you gurus can tell me what to look for when i get home that would suggest a lift, whether it be shackles or springs or whatever. Some pics of stock suspension setups might help. Oh, and it does sit on 31"s so maybe that's why it seems higher, but look at the distance between the tires and the wheel arch:

one way or another its gonna be up another 3" anyway (hopefully soon) :D...just curious though, it's always good to know what you have before making changes...

TIA

I would say a slight lift was done--maybe old lift that's settled a bit? That's sitting higher than mine right now, the springs look like they have more arch. Maybe p.o. put on new stock springs before selling to you, or put in 62 springs, which don't sag?

for sure its lifted, thats not stock height even when new with new springs.

interesting.... ::) Is there a way of finding out for sure, anyone have measurments or something?

so if it is lifted, say roughly 1.5"-2", with a new set of extended shackles (greasable of course ;)) you think there's a chance i could possibly maybe squeeze 33's under it?? :D that would be SWEET, what do you think? I would probably go 33"x12.5" (maybe 10.5") on 15"x8" wheels.... 8)

look at the front bump stops, tell me how much room between the rubber and where it will bottom out on. Most stock 60's have not much more than 1-2".

Not stock, but come one VT baby, SPRING OVER MAN!

TB :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Re:Does my 60 look stock height to you?

I checked the bumpstops but didn't have a tape measure handy. I would say there was about 3" though or more if i remember correctly, so maybe I'm looking at a 2" inch lift that has sagged a llittle.

HZJ60 - I think ill start with shackles and 33"s for starters and work my way up. SOA with 35"s does sound tempting though... ::)

Landpimp... this might be a silly question, but what is that logo under your username? I have seen it before...

I am new here, so don't laugh too hard.

swank60... thanks. Yeah, I figured out where I'd seen it... all over the engine.

I want to make some shirts with the logo (not to sell).

Gehn,

Is the engine in the rig in that pic?

It's definatley taller than my 62 (Barely any sag) and 31's.

Yup, the motor is installed in that pic. I wish i knew how much lift the springs give, i'd hate to buy shackles, wheels and 33"s to have them rub :-\ I'll get a number for that measurement and maybe i can piece it togther...but hell i figure its worth the try ::)

Yeah i have thought about making up some shirts too and maybe give them to woody to raffle off as a fundraiser or something (being non profit I assume copyrights could be avoided? im no lawyer ::)).

Okay, to put this issue to rest i have taken the bump stop measurement to share:

Front: Just over 6" (WITHOUT motor, WITH tranny)
Rear: about 3.75" (with a bunch of crap in the back)

Can somone without terribly saggy stock suspension take some measurements for me? Here's what i need:
- front/rear bump stop heights
- Front/rear shackle lengths (pin to pin)

Thanks!! rock on
