So after a lot of uming and arhing I decided to put a lift under my LJ70.
I went with Dobinson because I have read a lot of good things about their products. So to make it simple i got their 2" kit, springs and shocks.
Some problems I have with it:
1) The rear diff has been shifted sideways by a considerable amount. Somewhere in the order of 1" from rough measuring. When the tyres are sitting just outside the guards already, its pretty noticable that one of them is now sticking out and the other is flush with the guard. The front seems better.
2) The springs are restricting upwards travel. Even when all the weight is on 2 wheels the front and rear are both about 2" away from the stops at full flex, this is something I inquired about and was assured i would still get maximum travel.
3) The rear looks too high. Sitting 40mm higher than the front. I knew it would sit higher, but it doesn't look very special.
Good points:
All 4 corners are pretty level, <10mm variation from side to side from my measuring.
It drives pretty well, the slightest bit of wandering but i'm happy with it. The ride is firmish, but not harsh. Offroad it is a nice ride compared to the old springs. Downward travel seems slightly improved front and rear, rear more so than front, but i havn't measured.
I'm unsure what to do about the rear diff issue. I would like things to be straight. Either a panhard adjustment or shorter rear springs? I guess I am slightly dissapointed considering it is an off the shelf, no mods required product.
