They reason why I say that online responses mean nothing is because:Paid focus groups have one thing in mind... their next paycheck. Real LC owners are unpaid extreme focus groups that focus on cruisers because they love them, not because they are paid to "check them out". I'd say we verify our ownership quite well, and field testing... well take a lookat any of the bigger forums, especially the 80 series stuff.![]()
They reason why I say that online responses mean nothing is because:
"go search and find my post where I claimed my 1998 Toyota Land Cruiser with the rear locking differential broke down in Northern Canada. It left me stranded for 3 weeks as I was so deep in the bush it took me forever to get out. I had to catch and eat squirrel to survive"
Now, lets say some newbie Toyota researcher who is lurking finds this info and documents it as a breakdown in Northern Canada. I could possibly have never owned a 1998 Land Cruiser, I might never of been stranded, I possibly could not of eaten the squirrel meat.
In contrast, let say Toyota Canada pulls their data of Land Cruiser owners in Canada who bought a Land Cruiser from Toyota Canada and offered them $50 for a research group. What if I told the same story after they verified my ownership?
The paid focus group would likely be a little more ethical in the conclusion than if they randomly lurked and found info.
There is almost no valid info a a site like this because it can be easily made to be false or made up.
I think it would be an unnecessary but neat gadget... an Altimeter!
One of the guys on the Ford Mustang forums had his warranty claims denied in part due to the posts he had of his racing activities. One has to assume forums and the internet are pretty well understood by anyone selling any product these days.
If Lexus is listening - fix my dealers insane service policies. I should have bought a Toyota. My local Toyota service manager was much more honest and flexible when dealing with my rusted out '94 FJ80 bought in another state, than my Lexus dealer has been in just setting up the 5000 mile service visit for the 2010 LX570 I bought new from them 4-5 months ago. Sad.....
Just annoying dealer games. I call for the appointment and am given a time to show up and then told the 5000 mile service (oil & oil filter change, tire rotation, brake pad inspection) will take 2.5 hours. So I ask about a loaner, I'm told loaners are only given out for 3 hour or longer service visits. I ask if I can rent a car so I can go back to work and am told the dealer doesn't offer rentals. I ask what the service appointment could possibly involve to actually take 2.5 hours and am given a bunch of BS about "inspections" taking time. It's just an oil change, right? They won't let you come in?
Interesting post on autoblog where a Ford exec mentions that they monitor "all the blogs" and forums and are now responding to a particular thread or set of threads.
AB: When did you first become aware of these Raptor frame claims?SVT boss goes on record about Ford Raptor frame damage claims [w/video]
Hameedi: We monitor all the blogs – I think there are three or four different versions of Raptor online forums. We saw that there was one particular run where several Raptors bent their frames on the same obstacle.
Toyota is here.....
My request to Totota for the 200 Series: a 3rd row seat that can be removed without leaving gaping holes in the trim panels with brackets stickinng out, or better yet, the option of no 3rd row seat at all!
I highly doubt they come on this site. There is almost no valid info a a site like this because it can be easily made to be false or made up.
Using info you found on a forum.website is not the same as using verified owners/paid focus groups and paid research and field testing.
FORD is spinning everyone, trying to get themselves out of this mess.
