Recently the old FJ62 had developed a drive line vibration. I got underneath and couldn't feel any play but then realized that in park everything was so bound up. I jacked up one side, chocked the wheels, put it in neutral and the pictures explain what I saw. Plenty of play. Glad to see this actually compared to the TC being the issue. So I'm looking at ordering ujoints from Kurt. Question is do I need a drive shaft too?

Is the crack in the picture superficial or deep and through to the other side? The picture doesn't allow ud to determine how serious it is.

I wonder if that crack is just grime and dirt being moved when the U-Joint went bad?

Get in there and clean it up some and give us a better picture.

Hi, You probably won't know if you need drive shaft work or replacement until you do the u-joint(s). Mike

Pull the shaft off, take it to a drive-shaft shop have them put new U-joints in (only Toyota or Matsuba), balance it, and you should be good.

You got a vice and a big hammer? You can do it yourself.
