DIY hardwire Valentine One to overhead

I cruise at some absurd rate of speed on the FL Turnpike. I need all the radar I can get.

The real trouble with getting a 100 up to speed with 35s is getting it stopped again.

Anyone with an answer to my question? Don't have home link. Want to hard wire my Valentine 1 into the overhead console wiring. Does the sunroof wiring cycle with the ignition or is it always hot? Thanks

The part that's confusing is that the person who started this thread stated that it was a constant hot feed when connected to the auto dimming mirror but that's not on with the key out either is it? That made no sense to me.

If you have the hardwire kit you can tap into the fuse block down in the kick panel on the drivers side to get acc/ign switched power and run the cable up the a-pillar to your V1. That's how I have one of the 100s & the 997 wired. Very quick and easy that way…100% removable without a trace. The 150 I tapped into the overhead console wiring behind the a-pillar garnish so I could access it easily if ever needed. 100 it's clipped to visor, 997 stuck to windshield to the left of the mirror and 150 it's mounted to the mirror.

On the 100 I also have a remote display sitting on the black trim panel below the gauge cluster all the way to the right.

Thanks very much!! This is what I was looking for, do you have any pics of the cable in the fuse block that I need to find and tap into? I'm no electrician but can follow direction well once I know what I'm looking for. Thanks again!!!!

I've currently only got the GX at home but I'm picking up LX in next couple days. I can take a picture of my setup. Basically pull grab handle off and trim. Run the cable from wherever you want to mount it up to headliner and stuff behind, then run along pillar and drop down the small gap down into kick panel area. I used a fuse tap on cigar fuse to draw power and grounded to a bolt underneath. Plugged detector into hard wire unit and ran remote display wire behind dash up to gauge cluster. Your locations may differ

If you can do that for me I would be super grateful, I am considering the remote display but with the LX gauge layout it blocks some warning lights "not that the they will ever come on in this rig ;)" much appreciated!!!

HELP PLEASE :)
So I tried to tap into the red wire that powers the sunroof switch and the result was that the radar detector didn't power up, instead when trying to turn the detector on the sunroof would open. The wiring harness that I spliced into had about 4/5 wires going in so I'm sure I'm messing with the wrong harness. What I need is a simple easy to find wire preferably under my dash near the steering wheel that I can splice into to power my detector that will ONLY cycle with the ignition turned on. Any help would be much appreciated....sorry but I am not great at electronics and this is probably a simple question for most of you.

A test light would sure help....... $5-10 for a cheapie. Any parts store, walmart.......

Just find a wire that only has power when the ignition is turned on. When you touch it to a wire with power, it lights up. You want to find one that doesn't light up with the ignition off, and lights up when the ignition is on. The alligator clip side gets connected to something metal for a ground.

Found a wire, tapped in and now my sunroof opens and closes when I turn my detector on and off. Doesn't anyone have a picture of a particular wire I can tap into anywhere under the dash or overhead that will allow my detector to come on with the ignition? Thanks for any help

Thanks very much! Will give it a try, hope it doesn't turn my light on and off when the detector on off switch is used. As you can see I'm not an electrical guy :)

Speaking of the V1, anybody have a pin out for the V1 connector?

Somebody gave me a possibly non-functional V1 that I would like to test but don't want to buy a power supply for an unknown unit? Anybody know?

Ok this may help people trying to install the V1 hardwire kit. The map light works great. Turns on when the vehicle is unlocked and shuts off after 5-seconds when vehicle is locked. I tapped into the green line running between the two map lights and grounded it.

Nick,
Thanks man! I've checked around on the web for that pin-out off and on for a few years. A guy I used to work with dropped this on me and asked me to see if I could fix it. I set it aside and forgot all about it and haven't seen the guy in as many years. Today I lit it up and it looks good, guess I should wire it in and see how it detects around town.:steer:

Thanks again,
