As I'm preparing to dive into this project, I keep reading in the non-nav conversion thread that you need to set volume, fade, and balance before you install an aftermarket head unit. I don't remember if I did this when I installed my Teyes, and I don't have an OEM nav head unit. Do I need to have an OEM head unit to make this work?

I would think if you set everything to default on the Teyes, that should work. I set everything to what was recommended but I probably should've bumped the volume up more (or is it the other way?), after the Sony headunit install, I don't go past 15 on the volume.
