I've just put another 1FZ-FE in my '98 cruiser. I'm being paranoid: who can show me a photo showing how the distributor sits in situ once installed? Does the #1 plug lead sit highest vertically toward the bonnet, or furtherest forward, toward the radiator?

If it runs and the timing is right doesn't it have to be installed correctly? I guess if it was 1/6 of the way off and the plugs were all moved over one spot it could still work.

In this pic my rotor is pointing to the #1 cylinder lead. My motor is on the compression stroke and and the #1 cylinder is at TDC. You will still have to set the timing on the motor after you put the distributer in. Having the rotor pointing at #1 is just the first step, you will have to fine tune it to there. FSM says 3 degress, but a lot of people are able to run more timing.
