ok, just getting an idea of how popular it would be to be able to purchase a console like a tuffybox but with the same dimensions as the stock console? but, with cup holders, 12v / usb plugs in the back, maybe a slot for a cb, switch knockouts maybe? I don't know about you guys but my console is showing its age. cracked leather, broken latches, etc, etc. I would be the first in line...

Out of curiosity, why would you want the same dimensions? I built mine to be much larger than the stock so I could gain more storage and a better arm rest.

Should be taller to function as a comfortable arm rest.

Alittle taller would probably be alittle better but the thread I seen with the tuffy box looked too tall

I thought the Tuffy 012 (or is it 013) that others installed looked good, and it was reported to be a good height. I don't trust them to be a lockbox, but I still think it's an improvement over stock.

Yeah the Tuffys look a little awkward. I built mine to match the height of the door panel arm rests or maybe slightly taller. I also took advantage of more of the space on the sides of the console, but left the e brake perfectly functional...not that it does much. I've been communicating with a fab shop that possesses all the CNC stuff I do not have access to, and I am planning to draw mine up in CAD with some slight revisions. I am mainly lookingto have replacement for mine to address a couple of things and add a couple things, and my dad is really wanting one for his 80 after experiencing mine. I wouldn't be opposed to producing more assuming I have time and the costs/time for each console work out. I'm in at least 100 hours on this console, but all of it was free hand cut with a plasma.

I'm not really liking the idea of rocker switches facing up. Too easy to accidentally flip one on. Looks good tho. I would rather have a jack on there for a cb and an external speaker built in for it.

You ever make another one of these?

We've got one up on our website now: FJ80 Front Center Console Upgrade We got as many folks into the driver seat as possible to ask their opinion here at Overland Expo (just ended this afternoon). They all seemed to like the height and features. It will come with one inner stand off plate for mounting whatever you'd like, and we will have cup holders and radio mounts for it very soon. Part of the construction is rivnuts (threaded inserts/rivets) on a logical layout. This allows us to make and attach lots of different accessories, as well as publish that layout so everybody can make their own accessories.

Not by hand but I'm ~80% done with the CAD for it so maybe by the end of the summer, some will become available.
