I just started looking for an 80 or 450 after working on my sons (16-in-Dec) fj40 project this past year. It is amazing how easy it is to catch the cruiser fever.

I was looking for an '02 '03 Tahoe for the wife but she is agreeable to give an 80 or 450 a try. I cant see where I can go wrong after reading owners comments for this site.

Anyhow can some one please give me the changes between '95 '96 and '97 for the above series. I have found one '96 and two '97 in the area (180 miles). I will asume that because they are in Texas most likely they will not have lockers but you never know.

Thanks,
Russell

Don't think Texas will have much to do with whether or not it has lockers. There's such a nice supply of Cruisers in TX you shouldn't have any problem finding a locked one. You'll find the changes during 95-97 are minor.

I found a nice one now just courious on price. 97 LX450 lockers 83000 miles Carfax Clean non smoker, no major scratches interior looks new. The guy wants 15,700. I thought I would offer 14,500. Any comments would be appreciated good or bad.

Thanks,
Russell

$14,500 is getting closer. The "is it a good deal" question gets asked a lot on here. It's difficult to answer because it varies so much by region and even time of year. If everything on it checked out, head gasket/compression, etc, was super clean with good leather, and had lockers I personally wouldn't have a problem paying that for a 97. Probably would hope for access to maintenance records as well. Just make sure you look for and are aware of the common problems.

Good Luck,
Jason

Russell, If it checks out O.K. then 14, 500 for a locked '97 with 83,000 miles would be a pretty good deal here in Texas.
