LC are at least 11 inches off the ground.
That is not true.
Toyota has been measuring ground clearance at the transfer case cross member for years.
11 inches is 1st generation Tundra territory

LC are at least 11 inches off the ground.
That is not true.
Toyota has been measuring ground clearance at the transfer case differential for years.
Go get a ruler, measure it, and then come back and say to my face it's not true. I dare you.
Why on earth would they measure at the transfer case? And furthermore, do you honestly thing the transfercase is only 8.9 inches off the ground? Am I understanding this right? You honestly think the transfer case is only 8.9 inches off the ground.
.
You're sure you're not looking at specs for a Lexus LS. I can understand if you're confusing LS with LX. The names of the letters are almost indistinguishable to those with lower IQs
I will tell you this. A Tundra with the massive axle on the back does not sit 10.6 inches off the ground. Its around 9 inches of the ground, yet Toyota claims 10.6 inches of clearance.
Toyota unlike many other manufacturers measure at the transfer diff cross member
Sure does. But as you know, there's a great deal of difference between... 1) the off-road specific "indy" suspension on this Tak-4 or a H1. 2)the very advanced and impressive indy suspension on a Range Rover or LR4, and 3) the heavy but more simplistic and road-biased setup on a Sequoia or Ford Explorer/Expedition which lack articulation.
And obviously they don't measure at the transfer case crossmember, because the Tundra, Sequoia and Land Cruiser would all have more than 15 inches of ground clearance.
A Tundra does not have 15 inches of clearance at the transfer case cross-member. It has 10.6 at the cross member directly underneath the transfer case
Volvo.
I don't want to say it, but the Volvo XC90 is showing 9.2 inches of ground clearance...
I guess the XC90 9.2 clearance over the Land Cruiser 8.9 concludes this thread.
Just curious where you get your facts from?.
Incrementally so. No significant difference. The Sequoia can haul, and tow more.
25 Pounds higher. Semantics.Has a higher GVWR. ..
We're finding that more of these vehicles are coming equipped with this system. I wouldn't compare it to the KDSS.And has the same Toyota-EMS hydraulic shocks as the LX470..
I ask you the same.Just curious where your facts are coming from?.
Not in any significant amount.People should remember, the LC hauls less, tows less,
25 pounds. Again. You wouldn't happen to work for the Department of Redundancy Department?and has a lower GVWR than that of the Sequoia.
Also has over 1 inch less in clearance..
Seems to me that Toyota has built the Sequoia to meet higher numbers. .
I hate to ressurect this but.....
I put forth a letter to Toyota in simple terminology. I said that I was in the market for a 200LC or a Sequoia and will use the vehicle for fairly moderate 4wd use for many years. I asked which would be the better vehicle for this type of driving. This was the response (from the horses mouth):
Thank you for your interest in Toyota.
Based on the way you are looking to use the vehicle, the Land Cruiser would be the better choice due to its drivetrain (full-time 4-wheel drive and Crawl Mode), approach/departure/breakover angles and suspension (Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (KDSS)) provide increased off-road capabilities.
The Sequoia does have a slightly higher ground clearance, is larger as you mention and costs less than Land Cruiser. While it will handle rough off-road situations it is designed primarily as an on-road vehicle as shown by its Multi-Mode 4-wheel drive system.
The Land Cruiser definitely has the beefier construction. It is built for use and sale world wide and has proven reliability where the Sequoia, which is a competent vehicle, but was built for the North American market and again for mainly for on-road use and comfort.
As part of the KDSS, the sway bars can be disconnected for enhanced off-road suspension travel and uses a sold rear axle and the Land Cruiser has skid plates for the front suspension, radiator, fuel tank and transfer case. The Sequoia uses an independent rear suspension to provide a more comfortable ride and a skid plate is present for the engine and transfer case only and only on vehicles equipped with 4-wheel drive.
As far has how well the vehicle will hold up after years of hard use that is hard to say but the Land Cruiser is the vehicle designed specifically for to handle the kind of use you seem to want to use it for. Obviously abuse or far exceeding the vehicle's limitations could shorten any vehicle's performance life span but you can have confidence in the abilities designed into the Land Cruiser.
Also, the Sequoia is faster 0-60 but weighs more..
Looking at the numbers, the Land Cruiser only really has a higher MSRP which IMO inflates the "egos" of the LC200 owners.
For towing = Sequioa, wider, better rear end for towing, load leveling. LC has good payload, but too small wheelbase, width to make the difference
For people moving = Sequioa, this is a no brainer
For moving a total of four = tie
For design = tie
For personal use = Land Cruiser
For payload = Land Cruiser for fully loaded, Seqiuoa for lower trim such as SR5
For off-roading = Land Cruiser (but ground clearance and angles really suck)
For tail gate sitting = Land Cruiser
For loading in the rain = Sequioa
For what would worry me more if it broke down in the wild = tie
For on-road comfort = tie, edge goes to Sequioa
For macho men = Sequioa
For women = Land Cruiser (Taylor Swift included)![]()
Ha! "For macho men = Sequoia!" I missed that! LOL city!.

Look at her high heels....I mean Land Cruiser

I think Taylor Swift can't hand the size and beefiness of the Sequoia....leave it for Matt Damon
Apparently one person is all it takes to set a stereotype for the entire crowd that buys a certain vehicle!"
I sure hope I haven't turned off any potential Land Cruiser owners......maybe we gained a few Taylor Swift's or Kate G as Land Cruiser owners....
As long as we got rid of some more pagemaster owners along the way, then I am OK with that....
