Crawled under the truck to install my Hanna Sliders this past weekend, and noticed that my rear diff breather terminated just next to the spare tire! I thought these things were supposed to go into the rear quarter panel, by the tool area.

I've read the faqs and info about extending the breather lines into the engine compartment. Is it feasible to run the line up by the filler neck for the gas tank, rather than into the engine bay? I figured the engine bay would be better, as you can eyeball the water level. Truthfully, i have NO desire to go into any depth of water (desert dweller here), but just in case.

I had the same feeling for the rear breather. I ran mine up into the "D" pillar higher and behind the left rear turn signal. I ran the hose to the access panel (plastic) for the left rear bodymount, used a uni-bit in the panel slightly smaller than the hose O.D. Fish the hose into the pillar as high as you feel necessary, put a sock or filter on the end and your done.

I wish I had a pic but it's raining and I hate getting wet. Good luck

Kris

If you have OEM diff locks, there's another breather that does up into the rear quarter panel. The "standard breather" ends just where you found yours. The one up front ends at about the same height.

Some good info here on breather extension: George Scolaro's site

Thanks for the info!

I chose the fuel filler location as I did not have enough hose to run up front.

Just like it was born there...

i wish i had the OEM locker to worry about!

ANyone successfully replace the lines from the Tcase and tranny? My fingers are too fat to get anywhere near the origin point. After the lift, i plan on just extending the existing lines.
