There is a diagnostic port under the hood, but I can't figure out how to use it. My ODB scanner has a different connection. Is there a special tool I'd need to get, or is there an adaptor I can use?
Thanking anyone in advance for any help they can offer!

On USA 4.7L 100s the OBD 2 port is above the accelerator pedal in the cabin. We also have the diagnostic port in the engine bay, which I have used by shorting pins (process for some troubleshooting in maintenance manual).

I've looked all over for that port in the passenger cabin and haven't found it, the only one seems to be the one in engine compartment. I thought all Land Cruisers were built in Japan so would have thought they'd be similar. Mine's a diesel, maybe that makes it different?

There are a lot of differences world wide. Not every country adopted OBD2 at the same time. The port is pretty well hidden, btw. You really need to get your head under there to see it.

OK, I found this on Amazon, and the OBD1 end seems to match the diagnostic port under the hood. SO I ordered it and when I receive it (in about a month down here in Honduras :) ) I'll let everyone know how it worked. But it does look like the right adaptor

OK, got the adaptor and hooked it up to my OBD2 scanner and it said it couldn't link :-(
Maybe I need a different scan tool? There was a bridging pin across a couple of pins in the diagnostic port that I had to remove in order to plug in the adptor, which I thought strange. Why is it there?
Anyone had experience using a scan tool connected to the Diagnostic port under the hood? (There is no OBD port in the cab anywhere)
