Jim - Do you currently have all Smog Delete items instock and if not within the next month? Picking up my cruiser at the end of Sept and will be doing full smog delete (with HAC) shortly after. If added up properly, looks like $109+$30+$10+$10S/H= $159?

Greg,
the Idler pulleys are supposedly being burned out by the fab shop by the end of this week. I should finally have a good batch back on hand next week. All other bits are in stock here.

Yes, $159 is correct for the whole shootin' match.

Here's where the pulley goes.

And a pic of sorta what it looks like installed. Best I could find on the harddrive today.

Ok perfect, thanks Jim! You should see an email/paypal from me in the next week or so.

Update for Greg and others that have been waiting a while on these:
The newest version of the AP replacement idler pulley is available. Just got the bracket from the machine shop, they look great.

They will be painted and bolted together today, ready to ship tomorrow.

Sorry Jim been a crazy month with lots going on. Should be putting in an order next week for Cap/Plug set and EGR block-off plate. Any chance you know which EGR Gasket number I should order for the plate? I have found two (intake p/n 25628‑61031 and exhaust p/n 25628‑61020) or is there a different one that I am completely missing?! Thanks and you should hopefully see the order from me either this weekend or come Monday.

Greg,
Thanks for posting those numbers.

25628-61020 is the gasket to order for the EGR blockoff.

The other number is the gasket between the PCV/EGR plate and the intake manifold. Usually doesn't need replacing.

DeSmog Advice 84 FJ60 - Why remove EGR?

Found my power steering pump was leaking and the checkvalve at the air rail had burnt itself loose from the hose from the smog pump. The truck runs very well and nothing seemed amiss.
I have pulled the smog and PS pumps and ordered a new PS pump. The smog pump vanes appear OK and it was making some air but I suspect it was not enough to keep the checkvalve cool. (There was a lot of rust piled up behind the checkvalve when I finally got it off, and it is 28 years old.) I am weighing pulling the vanes and turning it into a pulley and capping the air rail and removing all the smog pump plumbing. I have looked at the full desmog instructions and wonder:
1) Why the EGR system needs to be removed,
2) How do these vanes come out of the air pump?
Any help would be appreciated.
Michael

1. It doesn't need to be removed. It is common on older Cruisers that the EGR system begins to malfunction, causing driveability problems. New parts are no longer available, so another possible solution is eliminate the failed system.

2. Remove backplate off pump. Remove allen screws on rotor. Slide vanes up off shaft. Remove leaf springs & carbons from rotor. Grease rear bearing. Reassemble.

Plumbing question

Thanks so much for the prompt reply. I pulled the vanes, springs and carbon rails and repacked the rear bearing. The inside was a greasy, blackened mess but no broken bits. I was considering going for the forward bearing for about five minutes. After I buttoned the pump back up though it turns sluggishly and backing off the rear plate bolts frees it up some. Is that a greasing issue? Can I assume the graphite gasket can come off the top of the rotor?
Thanks again,
Micael

OK, never mind. I took it all apart again and removed the graphite gasket. Revolved the bearing holder a few times until I found a set of holes it particularly liked and bolted it back up. Turns nicely now.
I will remove the remaining smog pump apparata, plug the exhaust pipe hose from under the brake cylinder and keep the EGR, for now.
Thanks again for the help.
