Hi Jim,
Gonna order up a cap and plug set, egr plate and gasket.
Will be paypal-ing 61 to you shortly.
Thanks,
Mike

Dont have time to read through 30 pages of this post but do you offer EGR blockoff plates for the 80 series? Didnt see them listed on page one or your website.

The 61020 supercedes to 61060, which is in stock. It goes between EGR pipe and exh manifold. Price is $20 delivered.

The other 61030 gasket is not stocked, but is still available from Toyota.

For both gaskets, the OEM Graphlex gasket is recommended over various aftermarket parts.

Okay...thanks Jim. I've called 2 dealers...61030 is gone apparently. Random question...When you do a carb rebuild...the phenolic looking part in the carb between the aluminum bowl and the cast iron part...do you remove the gaskets?...or just reuse em. Thanks

The FSM sez "Inspect insulator. Replace if permanently bonded gasket material is bunged up."

Sweet! Thanks Jim! I just found your previous post on this topic. Now all I need is a lathe....and a 4 jaw ;)

"The OE gasket material doesn't dry out & crack. It gets vandalized by people armed with gasket scrapers. The replacement gaskets dry out & crack.

The FSM says something like "Remove carb, inspect insulator block. If insulator gasket is damaged, replace insulator." Note that is does not say replace insulator every time or scrape off baked on gasket. It says inspect, replace only if necessary.

Case study of 1: The insulator on the dyno engine is 35 years old and has had 2,500 different carbs bolted to it over the last 20 years, no problems. Clean, flat carb on clean, flat gasket=good seal.

If an insulator block has OE gasket that appears to be too stiff to get a good seal, soak it with b'laster before installing. It will absorb the solvent and soften slightly.

When the insulator has been fuggled with a gasket scraper, it should be milled flat, than a new gasket(s) is shellac'ed to the insulator block, a little grease is brushed on the intake & carb base, then insulator & carb installed to clamp the new gasket between two flat surfaces while glue sets.

We're considering producing a threaded plug to replace the EGR valve where it connects to the intake manifold sideplate.

I need an 81-87 EGR valve and an intake manifold sideplate to get dimensions for the replacement plug.
The sideplate, with an open EGR pipe and the big compression nut to the right, can be seen at the top of this pic:

Anybody who has desmogged and has these 2 pieces to loan me would be much appreciated. As a rental fee for sending me the parts, I could trade you right now for a sideplate that has been desmogged & welded shut, like this:

Please post up in this thread if you have the two parts available.

I think I have the pieces you're after on an 86 manifold. Just confirm that the circled pieces in the photo are what you're looking for and I'll pull them off and send them to you.
