Hello all, a buddy of mine just purchased an 04 gx470 with 280k on the clock. Looks like it has the dreaded actuator leak, slee has quoted 4k to fix. Has anyone in the area done the reseal job and can provide guidance?

Wow 4k what a snake! Its a easy job. Look up on youtube. It took me about 30 minutes. Timmy the toolman released a video doing this job and clocking the accurate.

There are two ways to do this job, one is a compromise and one is not. Having done this job before and taking the shortcut to save the customer money, and then being bit by it, we quote the approved way that Lexus has to do the job, hence the price.

@sleeoffroad totally understandable, nothing involving a by the book fix with a transfer case is inherently cheap and yalls work is miles ahead of my own ability. Just a diy guy trying to help another save a couple bones till the book fix can be arranged down the road
