-----------------------------------------------------------
I feel like this is the best priced fj40 on the market for the upgrades and condition. Solid frame and body, relatively minor rust for an fj40, lots of leaks. Runs great, fires right up and drives "smoothly" (for a 40) with power steering and disc brakes. Most of the hard upgrades are done.
Iconic cruiser for sale, you may recognize this 40. All work done by @alaska60, @uglyoinker, @J1000, and @cruiseroutfit
The Good
-2F (rebuilt by Kurt about 20 years ago, and probably 20,000 miles ago
-Converted to 4-speed on the floor. 2F/H42/4spd T-case out of a 1976
-Power Steering, Toyota (this is SOOO nice!)
-fj55 axles with disc brakes front and rear
-Brake booster for disc brakes (modified firewall, lots of work and expertly done, all Toyota)
-Trollhole Carb, recently rebuilt
-Steering wheel moved up and forward for big boys (I'm 6' and a big guy and I fit in the 40 great)
-Extended clutch pedal for easier shifting (my wife really appreciates this; it's still stiff but much more doable)
-Shoulder belts in front and one in rear.
-Forward-facing rear bench (I still have one original rear long jump seat)
-New headers
-Recent new fuel pump, new gas tank
-Recent new alternator
-New exhaust and Flowmaster muffler by Jimmy in 2022, sounds great
-33x10.50 bfg's, showing their age, about 15 years old
-2 inch worn out lift
-Bull bar
-Wired for towing. Have only towed a small m416 trailer a few times, it does great! @uglyoinker
-Recent tune-up in last year by @J1000, fires right up and running well
The Bad:
-Has some rust but overall is a very solid frame and body. Great rear sill. Has some bubble rust but nothing serious (for an fj40)
-Worst rust is a soft spot on the rear interior wheel well, driver side; a spot on the driver outside corner; and behind spare tire
-Rear right signal has been intermittent but working now. Heater only works on low setting, we disabled the high heater setting because it was blowing fuses.
-Special Upgrade: Upside down Bezel just for you! Gives it extra horsepower
and mpg's
This is @cruiseroutfit 's first cruiser he built as a teenager with his Dad. I've had it since 2010, I bought it from Jim of PortalTek Axles. I've put a lot of work into getting it running like a sewing machine over the years and had some important drivable upgrades done like fj60 Power Steering, fj55 Disc Brakes, updated wiring, rebuilt Troll Hole Carb, new fuel tank, etc. I daily drove it for a few years and it's been garaged ever since I've owned it. It always passed emissions in Utah with flying colors from 2011 to 2016. In Colorado it is a 1968 so has 5-year vintage plates and doesn't need to do emissions. It has the early fj40 body with better steel but the more reliable drive train from a '76 fj40, best of both worlds. I'm selling because I have 3 herniated discs in my lower back and it's tough to shift, still keeping the fj62 and 100.
-Located in Golden, CO (near Denver)
-Price $16,000 (not quite what I'm into it)
