Seriously though, we all could pile in my vehicle if my tools, spare parts and camp gear could be hauled inside someone's vehicle on the trailer.

There wouldn't be any associated fuel costs.

I am going to drive anyway because it's cheaper for me to drive than to ride on a trailer.

What do you think the DOT would have to say if we all strapped each other together and took turns pulling?

I will make some calls today. Looks like its a 650 mile trip (1 way).

First place..... $365 each way. (Tampa to Sparta) Still making calls.

Pulling my lead sled with my oversized tire F-150 , I only spent a total of 350.00 give or take a few dollars . Plus I had all my gear , tools , parts oh and my wife . The trick is make sure your truck and trailer are prepared to make along haul . We had a carvan planned out with I think it was 6 vehicles but something fell threw . I ended up going up by myself on Sunday morning and I had no worries .

This time I'm not leaving until Wednesday the 16th , most of the truck didn't get there until late in the week last year . So that's my plan I'm sure most everybody esle will already be there from Florida by then . But if anybody wants to follow give me a shout . Peace out .

I am about to pull the trigger on the following:

Buy a rebuilt 4.56 3rd member w/ 5yr warranty
Rebuild front with Nitro 4.56 gears

Luis and I are trying to sync our schedules but it looks like FJ moves to Luis's house the 23rd and we do the techsession on Saturday the 24th.

Cruisercliff I will take you up on the offer if AAA uses a flatbed?

I will post finalized plans when they happen.

PM me and I will call you, and we will set it up.

This would be the perfect time to reboot your cv's while they are taken out

OK, I will grab some boots; should I be thinking of anything else? I bought the rear diff gasket and ECGS said to use RTV on the front.

As far as boots if you get the ones from toyota they come with clamps, boots, and premeasured grease packets for each cv. everything else should be fine.

Although I would consider my wife a cruiser chick, that is our anniversary weekend and I dont think working on cars is her idea of fun. If you need to borrow tools or anything let me know.

FJC Regear tech session on Saturday March 24th in Apopka. I will provide food and drinks.

After reviewing some posts I am going to have

ECGS Rebuilt rear 3rd member w/4.56 gears
ECGS provided Nitro 4.56 R&P and mini rebuild kit
New rear paper differential seal from ECGS
Tube of FPG for front
new seals for the front for when I pull the CVs
Possible new CV boots

I have the manual and some tech articles printed. Let me know if anyone thinks of anything else that is needed.

What about tiki torches and dancing girls??? Dancing girls can't be overlooked for this kind of work.

Do you have a inch pound torque wrench for preloads? Dial gauge to measure backlash etc? If your OCD give yourself enough time to debur the inside of the housing (hopefully not that OCD).

If the FJC is similar to the 40 pinions you will want an easy way to press the bearings without damage until you get the right preload and depth set. Supposedly there is a tool to measure the depth, I just started with what I pulled out and adjusted it from there. Took a few times of assemble/reassemble.

Sorry, I will be out of town that weekend. Unable to attend.
I hope it all goes well.
If you all decide to get an early start this weekend or don't finish on the 24th let me know.

Gregg, great to see you are upgrading

I always thought backlash and preload was set by feel :D

If anyone can get a hold of Gregg, make sure he knows that my AAA tow will not work. They will require me to be there at the time of hookup. I sent him an email. I hope he gets the bad news. Sorry.

Less than two months away!

Time to get our trucks ready.

Started last weekend on the 40 . It had a bad master cylinder and one leaking wheel cylinder , so I went ahead and replaced the whole brake system . Now when you look at the pedal it stops . Also replaced some seals . I really need to replace the knuckle seals but not sure if I what to mess with them right now .

I built a new rack in the back to hold what ever needs to be held , today I'm going to try to build a new cold air intake idea I have .

I also changed out all fluids .

My FJC is at Luis's house and we will start to work on it Saturday at 8AM.
