Hey there guys.
We have a 2021 heritage.
The defroster just doesn't do a very effective job of keeping the glass clear, both windshield and side glass. Is not the correct setting auto defrost to get the best results?
It seems to only run the dash vents and not the defroster vents in this setting. Crazy.

Check to make sure your recirc damper isn't broken.

Yes. With the access door in the glove box removed, cycle from fresh to recirc a few times and make sure the damper opens and closes in front of the filter. Also make sure filter is seated properly. Whatever you do, don't force that damper by hand. If it's not working, it could be your defrost problem.

I lock my glovebox, take the valet key and have them leave the filter on the passenger seat. Not taking any chances.

Do I check that by removing the filter in the glove box?
(I know the recirculation is supposed to be activated to remove the filter)
Would a dealer mess with that during an oil change?
Thats the only service we've had done. 2x
Yes, the dealer would mess this up. They broke mine on a 2015. They ate putting a whole new air box in under a CPO warranty.

I forget where I got it, but on one of the recirc threads someone was selling a sticker you can put on the recirc door in the glovebox warning to put the system in the right mode before changing.

Newer 200s already have one, but the stupidity continues.

I can’t stress the above “lock the glove box and keep the key blade with you” advice enough. It is the only way to ensure you don’t end up with a broken damper.

See post above OP.

Even though ours already has a sticker from the factory I elected to purchase another from the forum member here who was selling them last year simply for redundancy. Even with all of that I still choose to keep it in recirc mode, lock the glove box and keep the valet key when I go in for service, I see the numb-nuts twits they employ and I am not taking any chances. I change my own filters in my vehicles, they can swap the oil if I feel like letting them but that's about it.

This couldn't be posted at a better time. Still a newerish owner of my LC 2015 and drove in its first snow this morning and holy cow that was an adventure to try and keep the fogging down. Guess I know what I am doing this weekend now.
Thanks for the link @El Skywalker; that is next to read.

Looks like it is in fact broken.
Seeing red right now.
There is a sticker right on the filter door.
Heading to the dealership today to see what they have to say.

Let us know how you make out.

It only takes a couple minutes to check.
I am still new to this climate control system in the LC myself and came across that post the other day.

I was having some fog issues myself, but it was due to having a packed car and what not.

Wear those dipshits out, call them out here on the forum. They will continue to damage vehicles until it affects their bottom line.

Ok guys not sure what to think about it now.
When checking the door it would not close when pushing the recirc/fresh air buttons.
I gave a little feel with my fingers the door flopped down with no resistance at all.
Seems broken to me.

On the way to dealer my wife is going through the controls and low and behold it's working.
What?
We went through all the vents and got hot air wherever we wanted it. Door is working.
Not sure whats going on, but it definitely wasn't functioning before. I will keep updating if there are any changes.

Any thoughts?

Should be a link posted above.

From what I can gather from my inspection this morning

Do I have the following things correct? (experts please chime in),
  1. the rotating door in "closed" position (meaning airfilter is blocked) is recirculation off (open to exertnal air)
  2. The rotating door has two pivots, left by the stereo and right, by the passenger side window.
  3. At the right pivot connection point, a motor rotates a geared pivot.
  4. The geared pivot is male and it is supposed to slot into the right pivot of the door which also geared
  5. I assume the left pivot is just idle?
