Has this ever been posted before??? I stumbled onto it and can't tell if the Cruiser is running or just being towed. Surely that Russian jeep thing couldn't pull a hundy through that deep water w/o the Cruiser helping, but man that's deep for a running motor w/ no snorkle! Cool video either way!

Awesome. It looks like it is being towed. I see a green strap. It's either a quick recovery tool for either are pure tow strap.

Yeah, I saw the strap. I can't tell if there is any wheel spin, and if the Cruiser is being towed in "N", that's one hell of a Russian Jeep!

The strap looked tight the whole time. Cool vid even tho the poor 100 had to be towed.

Yeah, after watching again, I realized all the excessive wheel spin on the GAZ-69, which wouldn't have been there had he not had a load behind him. Poor Cruiser!!! I'll bet he flooded/sank it. Not much else will kill them!

Several reasons it cannot be under it's own power.
first: is the obvious tow strap
Second: air intake is at the right front fender. That was TOTALLY submerged.
Third: unless it was a diesel, the electronics getting wet would have killed the engine. Unless he/she water proofed the electronics, which looking at the vehicle and it's stock state, I doubt it was.

Although, if I can get one of those GAZ-69's with air conditioning, e-seats, e-mirrors, seat heaters, satellite radio and leather, and a reliable Toyota drive train, I might consider buying one!

If you look at when the jeep couldn't go any further, it was being held up by the weight of the cruiser. Then the jeep guy opens up his door, cruiser guy opens up his door and then they decide to go on. Now the jeep has no problem moving forward where as it did when the cruiser was stopped. I have doubts that water definitely would have gotten into the intake. It's hard to say whether the right side was as submerged as the left. But yeah, I would still. It want to go through water that deep.

Why would anyone wonder if the rig was being towed? Absolutely clear from the video that it was.

If the rig was snorkled, this depth would not have been a problem. The electronics under the hood are pretty waterproof already. the ones in the interior would not have gotten wet... and they can be further waterproofed as well if you wish.

The 100 would likely have had trouble pushing against that current. Even locked at both ends it would almost certainly not been able to generate enough traction to move forwards. Too much flotation for the weight and a lot of force pushing back on it.

Mark...

Not true! The electronics are protected really well from the factory. We've been in water above the headlights with swells above the wipers and for 2-3 minutes at a time. Snorkel-only.

We've done this many many times over the years.

Not doubting but any pictures/videos or more details?

Must be a 2000 MY with the bad tranny...:hillbilly:

Can't think of any other reason why a Heep would pull a Cruiser.

When tow rig (Gaz) stopped, the 100 was in about 10" of water (d-side). No way the water in the 100 had anything to do with the stoppage. My theory...

Gaz: Ready?
100: Ready!
chug chug chug chug... spin... stop
Gaz: (opens door) Dude! Are you in Neutral?
100: Uhhh... Now I am
chug chug chug...
