I'll soon be changing from 18" to 16" and trying to decide 285/75/16 or something else. Came across this FJ80 and thought the proportion is just right. Pictured has 275/70/16, which is an odd size, it is not available for the Falken Wildpeak AT3W that I'm intending to get. This one looks like it's got spacers to them as well.

I just put on 285 75 16 on my stock wheels. No rubbbng at all. 32.8” with Mickey Thompson Baja boss a/t. Hope that helps.

i had 285/75/16 on my 80 and they were a good size, no rubbing after i changed out the old stock springs. and even then they only rubbed a little at full stuff with the old saggy springs. easy size to find both new and used, and will fit in the stock spare location with out any modifications

I've read enough and confident they won't rub. Reason why I posted that photo because I really like the proportion, I know it is subjective. Lando100 that's the exact wheel I have except I had them powder coated matte black. But I feel that 80 still had spacers because the tires look a bit pushed out. I have 1.5" lift front and back, I'm just debating if I should add spacers for a wider stance.

Honestly those look a bit bigger than 285/70/16s, that's a 31.5" tire, those usually get swallowed up by 80 series. I usually say 275/70/18 is a great size for on/off road with no extra calculations of will it fit etc, so maybe the above referenced 285/75/16s would at least get you close.
