Well I am home from DV and this was my second trip, still barely scratched the surface. The dang park is soo big and gas is soo expensive. Anyhow we had a great time and I managed to loose a Hella light and a mud flap. When making our way out we got caught in a sandstorm in Mojave, we had to backtrack to the 138 I think it was, to get to 395 if I remember correctly. Our first day we drove up to Panamint Springs and Stovepipe Wells, then on to Furnace Creek to Echo Canyon. Echo cyn was a fun short run where I managed to get myself in a jam trying to climb a good obstacle. While backing down from the first attempt trying to reposition myself I ran over my mud flap and ripped it off the body. I think that is testament to how steep the waterfall was. I made three attempt and could not get over, since the sun was on it's way down and we were alone we backed off which wasn't easy either, sorta got myself in an awkward position up against the rock wall. I avoided scratching by about 2 inches. We pulled rocks from the inside of the DS tires so when I rolled back it made the cruiser slide sideways and away from the wall, and was then able to back out without scraping.

Second day we ran Goler Wash/Mengel Pass and into Warm Springs. That trail seems to have eroded in a few spots, made for some fun wheelin'. After that we were toast. I managed to rip my Hella off while trying to adjust my lights, damn plastic housings are cheapo. I now call her "Cyclops Cruiser". The climb out of Stovepipe Wells back into Panamint Valley was long and steep, the cruiser handled it pretty well considering. Everything took longer than expected, we stayed in Ridgecrest so you had to add on driving time just to get to and from the park. We took our time took lots of pics and hiked around a little. It was very cold at night and during the day. Saw some nice rigs in the park and on the fwy. Next time I would like to post up in Lone Pine so I can start exploring the north end of the park. Hope you enjoy the pics...

Love DV, sounds like it was a blast.

Looks awesome. I'm going to have to do this trip someday.

Nice pics of your 80 and the trip!

Awesome pictures, love that one of Sue in the doorway, we gotta get her and Tillie together on the trail sometime. ;) Looks like a great time and definitely makes me jealous I stayed in town. I need to go get dirty soon. Thanks for sharing.

We ain't got nun that purty land out here in GA. I rekon I miss it.

Ok so those pics really piss me off. I am kicking myself for not seeing more of the west (and DV) than I did in my short time out there. In reality, I simply did not have the time or the $. I am going to have to just plan to drive on back someday and meet up with you all.

Thanks for the great pics, you bastid:flipoff2:,

What psi did you air down to? Your tires look a little stiff.

well

I would say I was at about 23 psi? I was afraid to go to far down. I was just plain afraid period due to the fact that we were all alone. Maybe a lower psi would have gotten me up that obstacle??

23 is a little high. Some guys will run really low. I usually run 16-20psi. 20 when I'm loaded with the RTT and camping gear.

For obstacles like those rocky waterfalls, low pressure really helps for traction. Your tires will conform to all of the rock and just grip.

Do you have on board air?

WOW, crazy staying in Ridgecrest! And no not because it's The Crest but now I know how your gas bill got sooo high! I am assuming you had some people with you who aren't campers. Well I hope my home town of Ridgecrest where I was born and raised treated you alright!

My dad is not into camping anymore, he used to be the man down in Baja and the desert when he was a younger guy. Ridgecrest was interesting. We went to family owned Italian restaurant that was alright, very suprised when right in the middle of dinner our waiter joined a group of guys and sang like a quartet in the dining room...
