That is exactly what I did. Brought my own parts. Saved at least $300 by doing so.

I think some dealerships allow this and others don't.

Do you mean that you could bring in YOUR parts and the DEALER will do the job?

Sounds great, but strange. Or, is this fairly common among the dealerships (better to get service work and no parts than no service work at all)?

I've done this before, too...bought the parts from CDan, then had my local dealer do the work. The drawback is, if there's a problem, both the part and labor aren't guaranteed as in the case when you buy both from the dealer. You'd have to ask the SM's at the dealer and ask if they allow this, too.
 
Just seen this thread. 143K? You had both entire axles replaced I hope? At that mileage, if you're gonna pay for the high labor cost to R&R boots, my opinion is you'll save in the long run if you just buy the entire new CV axle. ???

What would SUCK is to have a CV start to go bad shortly after. :mad:
