Today I was doing some off-roading with my new to me HDJ100 Automatic and when going down a very deep incline I noticed the engine had cut off power. I did not realice at first because I was only using gravity to go down so but it should be no more than a couple of minutes. For context, I had engaged L on the auto box to help with engine braking and the diesel tank was less than 1/4 and showing almost empty because of the slope.
I stopped the car as soon as it was safe to do so and the car would crank but not start again. Then I waited some minutes and the car fired off right away, the only difference being I primed the fuel filter in case there was no diesel flowing to the injectors.
Some possibilities I am considering are:
1. Fuel did not flow and being in a flatter surface (plus maybe the priming) restored the flow
2. I somehow overheated the transmission because of the L position and the very steep incline and the car shut off for protection
3. Random electrical gremlins
4. ???
Thanks for your ideas! Pic of the day for attention
