De-smog pulley

Anybody replaced their smog pump with one of the pulleys from FJ40Jim? If so, do you recommend? And . . . how the heck did you get in touch w him? I've tried emailing through the forum and regular email.

Keep trying. Jim is a really good guy and he supports the forum.

Something else you can do is gut your smog pump. Install some new bearings and just use it as your idler pulley. The bearings are dirt cheap.

And Jim is the originator of some of the desmog procedures.
 
Yeah . . . I've heard nothing but good things about Jim and the de-smog pulley. Wasn't sure if I was using the right email or not.

Come to find out (although I still want to de-smog) anti-freeze was leaking very slowly on to a belt causing it to squeal and smoke. I thought the smog pump was going out.
