I have yet to see my DRL's on the new 17 LC come on. I have the headlights set to auto. And I have the fog light switch set to fog lights.

Yet I never see the daytime running lamps on. What am I missing?

Are the foglights on? If they are, they are probably "replacing" the DRLs. So you either run fog lights during the day or, if they are off, the DRLs are on.

So that seems to be a bit of a inconvenience. I want fog lights to be on at night time when the lights come on. And I want daytime running lamps to be on when no headlights are on.

I am driving right now. What I realize is that the headlight setting has to be sent to what appears to be a daytime setting? But that means I can't have them on auto and also get daytime running lamps?

In my 2016, if the fog lights switch is on while it's on Auto the DRL will not activate and lights will always be on. If I turn the fog lights switch off, the Auto lights is activated, which only turns on the headlight beams.

It depends what you consider DRL. If you are talking about the bottom of the headlight strip that is not it. That is parking light or when headlight is on. Regular lights are used as DRLs but at a lower power. If they are not on, DRL are disabled. Just go to the settings and enable. Fog lights will only come on when lights come on. In DRL mode they will stay off.

We all know that Toyota dropped the ball for US market for not utilizing the bottom headlight strip as DRLs and using headlight at a reduced power. Not a big fan. I came across an alternative by OSRAM (Sylvania in US) that replaces fog lights with dual mode set (dry part and fog light part). Thoughts?

I installed a set of the Osram fogs in my LX. Difficult to photograph, but these are a really nice product, looks stock when installed. Very bright even in direct sunlight.

Very nice! Unfortunately had to return my set. During testing discovered that one of the fogs didn't work. DRL did. As well noticed that the DRL may not work the best on 16+ LC. Even though fogs are round, the exterior bazzel have flat finish covering partially fogs which would cover DRL part as well. Need to rethink if want to try it again.

Bringing the thread back. There were a lot of discussion about folks no liking the US DRL process on 2016+ which utilizes reduced power main headlight light vs. bottom white strip like in the rest of the world.

I have coming from China this fog light cover which I hope is a good quality and will become my DRL. System has both white and yellow LEDs so can be used for turn signals as well. Planning to use for DRL only. Will update with pictures when test unit arrives.

Do you know how to do this? I can’t seem to find any directions or information on the MFD. I have a 2008 LC
This post is pretty old. I think in 2008, if you can do it, it would have to be done in Techstream.
