I will be on the Register's Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa during that time frame. No, this is not a mid-life crisis. Yes, I am certifiable.
So, what I have heard is that rag-ride is more about drinking than riding... so is that two hobbies??
In my youth, a day went like this:
Get up and hit the road at dawn.
Pedal hard to the next town.
Pitch tent and sleep in afternoon.
Party until bars closed at 2 AM.
Repeat.
I'm envisioning:
Get up and hit the road sometime.
Get to next town and take a nap.
Get moving, eat dinner, drink a beer or two.
Fall asleep around 9 PM.
Repeat.
I'm supposed to be training?
I'm going easy right now, 15 mile rides at moderate to fast pace 3 days a week. A college room mate owns a bike shop near Parkville and he planned out a training schedule. Right now I'm on my hybrid, but will be purchasing a new road bike once we know for sure we made it through the lottery.
I did one 18 mile training ride the week before MS150 last year. LOL Both Terrie and I ride in comfort on Hybrids. Comfort....what a crock. Having a saddle attached to your arse for hours a day, there is no comfort......![]()
That Day 6 bike would be cool if they could put a sidecar for the liddle lady....
