Would like to do a dash cover and then make some modifications.

Am looking at the brands like dashcover, coverking, dash blah blah, etc. Am aware of the Escape Gear one, but thinking I want something more molded to fit.

Any of you have pics or first-hand recommendations to share?

Thanks,

Matt

Hmmm... Didn't know there were so many to choose from!

I recently ordered the Escape Gear unit.

So Matt (@ethernectar ).... Regarding dash covers and the inability to attach to the underlying dash surface as before... You'll appreciate this...because you enabled it:

I've been borrowing **YOUR KILLER IDEA** of repurposing the grab handle bolts to attach muptiple RAM ball joints.
This way, nothing is dependent upon a sticky dash surface.

On the left I've got my Garmin Satalite Com plus my phone...

On the Right, I've attached my new rear-view camera and a phone mount for the passenger side...

I'll be cleaning up the arms... Those were just teh only RAM arms I had on hand...

Anyway... Thanks for sharing the idea, Matt. It's a great solutions.

PS. No, these will not interfere with the side curtain or front air bags. I've checked the airbag paths. :)

I bought a DashSaver brand dash cover for $60 about 3 weeks ago for my 2018. The construction quality is good, there were a dozen fabrics to choose from and lots of colors for each fabric.

I noticed right away that it cut down tremendously on glare from the dash that I didn't even know was there. The only problem is that it's about an inch and a half too narrow. That is to say when it is centered on the dash there are gaps on the sides. So, I'm returning it. Maybe the 18 dash is slight wider than the 16/17, since this is the 16-18 version.

Even though it doesn't fit right, it convinced me that there is a purpose to a dash mat other than to hide dust (or make it less noticable) and cut down on heat when that black plastic dash gets warm in NM's brutal high desert sun. It did those things very well. However when it slid a little to one side or the other it would cover the light sensor in the center of the dash so the instruments/headlights would go into night mode. A little velcro would have taken care of that but then I'd be slightly annoyed by the gaps on either side every time I drove it.

Didn't see anything for Land Cruiser except the 62.
Nothing for the 200. Perhaps they do custom...but I'm not looking to spend a pile.

The Escape Gear dash cover is really not expensive at all.
Like $55. Cost about as much to ship from South Africa as to purchase.

I'll know soon as it should arrive this week...but I liked the one in Cole's rig...
