Put hose clamps on that vacuum line to the throttle body because if it falls of your trucks gains about 100 hp and runs away. It happened to me twice before i bought the 75 cent hose clamps. Scary. Good thing just shutting the key off killed the engine.
It's on my list for sure.

Although it hasn't happened to me yet, don't think I ever did it on my old 40's and they both had a lot more boost. :meh:

This is the time of year where it will happen if it's going to tho.

Even rubber that's usually hard as hell is soft in this heat.

Also wouldn't mind just putting new hoses on there while I'm at it.

That clear s*** usually doesn't last that long, so 40 years might be pushing it

I'd guess some good fuel line would do it.

Don't really know why they used clear tubing for it??

Different resistance value at full made the needle on my gauge go so high it just about disappeared off the screen. Was worried it'd kill the gauge...and I was never that sure where empty was.

Could measure resistance at full / empty on both and just add a resistor in series to increase the resistance to match what it expects

I did consider that before I found that the senders were physically identical and easily swapped.

Turns out , the resistance at empty was the same, it was the full reading that was quite different, so I'm not sure that'd actually work without also messing up the empty reading.

Having a new 40 sender in a box made this dead easy. Easier than farting around with resistors for me. :meh:

Made my biology teacher laugh, but not much use to me these days.

In this instance k.i.s.s. was probably the right one...

Just so @cruisedeisel stops yelling at me

New hoses will have to wait. Whatever this s*** is it still feels nice and flexible.

Part of the reason I hadn't done this yet is my borderline irrational hatred for mini hose clamps.
Standard gear style never work worth a s***, they jam, look haywire and often pinch the hose out of round and leak. **** those pieces of s*** .

Found these little whizjammers. Seem to work quite nicely by comparison.

Now, time for a power nap before I have a schizoid embolism.

I’ve been looking for those little clamps. Where did you get them?

I finally found them on amazon after a fair bit of searching.

I think they have more travel than the specific sizing would suggest, but I like them.

Oh sure, NOW one finally turns up at a price I can live with.

Got a decent box of bits with it, and a rotory table which should be fun.

I can already hear @Rigpig shaking his head at how I'm going to misuse it...:hillbilly:

On a cruiser level...I need to investigate something. Not sure if my throttle cable is too tight or I've torn a mount. I let out clutch, truck idles along and if I hit a hill it accelerates. Fairly hard

Used to do it a bit, but now it's a lot more noticeable now after the purple nurple adjustment.

What an awesome little unit; congrats! This must be what took your tire money....haha.

Haha yep. Tires can wait.

Smaller mills are so hard to get here, and usually worn out and double the price they should be. This probably has lots of wear (although it actually seems pretty tight) but at least the price was right.

If I was gonna buy a bigger machine I think I'd just say ****it and do a roadtrip to the states. So many in Washington and Oregon, but I don't think I need a 2000lb monster.

Should be fun. Been a while since I used one, so I'll have some figuring out to do.

So much potential for fun there... I'd love to have one, but it's way, way, way down the list.

It's been on my list for years and years. I'd pretty much given up on finding anything used in my sub 1k price range.

There's about 30 things I've made in the last year that would have been cleaner with this.

I made these pickup rings last month. Router and table saw...mill would have made life so much easier.

Not to mention little things like facing manifolds

But I’m sure the lathe would be so much safer and easier.

But I’m sure the lathe would be so much safer and easier.

In some cases, yeah

My lathe has a lot bigger capacity, so if I have the choice of using it again or paying a machine shop...

Lathes are never really safe, there's always something big spinning right there in front of you .

Trick is if something goes wrong to just jump back and let it happen. :meh:

Well, you had to know the gratuitous milling for no real reason was going to start sooner or later...

Finally got a chance to play with it. Made my radio blank/ drawer face a bit more interesting looking.

Now it almost looks like something Mr.T might have made.

You know, if he was mildly hungover and using a mill for the first time in 15-20 years

I haven't thought of a really good project for it yet, although I'm thinking it might be a big old battery switch for the winch. Scored about 100 feet of 3/0 battery cable, so I can improve the wiring a wee bit.

So now that I'm almost feeling semi human after my "heatstroke" I can play with things in the shop a bit.

There's not really rules anymore about it, but I called in sick for a couple days because it still seems to me that taking covid to work when you don't have to is a dick move. :meh:

I did a test today out of curiosity, and no surprise, still positive, but compared to friday, where the test did the Linda Blair 360 , punched me in the face and tried to get my dogs pregnant, it seemed slower to turn.

Anyways, I found this funny. When I bought mill, dude gave me these two rods, and said, " and don't forget these, you'll need them"

Right I says, thinking I have no idea wtf they are but didn't want to look like a complete idiot

Kept thinking they must be something to do with travel stops for the table, but somewhere in the weekends covid fog, it occured to me they might be for holding collets in. And sure enough...

So that's cool, using this style and not using the little drill chuck like holder gains me almost 3" of clearance above the table.

And I didn't have to break down and ask the guy ... I blame the covid brain fog starting early. Years early

Seeing as turkey night is probably cancelled I figured I'd take out some frustrations on a harmless piece of metal.

I haven't carried a spare yet on the truck, which is sorta asking for it, but now that I actually have one, not carrying it would REALLY be asking for it..

Murphy would cancel all his vacation plans for that🤣

Been trying to decide what to do with it. I don't really want a swing out carrier bumper, although that may happen. For now, headache rack is easiest.

I did consider a 40 series carrier on the headache rack so I could swing it out of the way, and I may still play with that. but for now I opted for simple non invasive.

Made this freaky looking thing. Might make the middle bit longer so it could use two lugs, but that'll be for a fresher brain to decide tomorrow.

I figure this will let me move it around if I have to, without having to cut s*** back off again.

Or until I find where I like it.

Needs a bit more massaging but it's getting there.

I'll also bend up a little step for it to sit on to carry most of the weight,

Once I figure out the least annoying height.

Maybe another couple inches up.
