Looking at getting CVJ cv’s for the lifted application.
Anyone ever run into any issues with the “needs an additional 1” of clearance”?
Is it worth the extra $75 per side to get an OEM outer boot?

Get OEM spec and high angle inner boots installed. OEM or similar for outer is fine. The inside is the one that always leaks on lifts.

I'm interested in hearing about this extra inch of clearance too.

I was looking into getting a pair of CVJs when the time came, but wasn't sure why I would need more clearance than a stock axle would need.

If you add an inch to the CV you will blow wheel bearings like crazy. Not sure where they add that inch.

Vlad, I understood it to mean an inch of rotating clearance, not length. Pretty sure they are stock length.

hmm...

The red boots "needs" an additional inch each way like from a fat coilover perch or the like.

See how much more boot there is?

ooooh, the inner boot. Yeah, I already run those. Helps with droop and not pulling/tearing boots.

No issues for a few years here

I would use 5th gen CV when I have to change mine.

Left is 5th gen and right is 4th gen.

Are there any problems running a high angle CV without a lift? My axles are weeping a little, nothing serious at the moment, but enough that I'll likely be replacing soon. However, I'm not planning on actually lifting for another year or so. Can I put in a "Moderate lift" CVJ Axle at stock height for a year or two?

That is double the amount of ribs (6 vs 3). Are the dimensions the same?
