I have a torn boot on my left front CV axle. I see that I can buy OEM for about $450 each or aftermarket for as little as $80 each. I don’t want to just go the cheap route and then need to replace them again. What is the consensus on OEM versus aftermarket? Also as long as I’m doing the work what else should I do while I have it apart and is there a way to protect the boots. Where I use the truck I go through a lot of thick brush at times. Any help is appreciated.

You can just reboot them, kit available through Cruiser Outfitters or your dealer.
think the PO used aftermarket so I’m not sure of the qualityand would like to start with something I know. I will probably reboot these and use as spares.

buy OEM. reboot is an option but if your axle has been on there awhile id rather buy a new one and not worry about it. Where im at its a PITA to wrench and you dont want to bet stranded on the highways out here so i generally try to replace rather than save $. saving a few bucks here ends up costing you both time and money at the worst time. When im out west same goes. I dont want to waste my down time stressing about getting repairs done before heading out.

if you go new you can also reboot your old axle with Curts boot kit at your leisure an have a spare. Thats what i did.
