Ok so both my passenger side boots are leaking. I am about to order the boot replacement kit, they aren't making any sound or anything so i'm guessing they're ok. however, just buying a new axle looks kindof simpler. I have heard of remanufactured Toyota ones for $200 but I'm not sure where to find them, do any of you guys know? shes got 160000 on her so a new one would probably do her some good. Also, are there any easy "while you're in there" bushings, etc... to replace? I'm going to be using a friend's lift to do this job, and I've seen the "200k suspension overhaul" list, so if there are also any easy things to replace in the rear I'd be willing to do that also. One last question, what part number is this dreaded differential seal I keep reading about? Does it come with the boot kit? Thankyou for all your help! I have a 2004 UZJ100

I see no problem replacing the boot kit and reusing the CV assemblies. Here is a good write up:

A bit more work, but you could repack the wheel bearings if it hasn't been part of your regular maintenance (every 30k is the recommended interval I believe).
Yeah but I don't really have the kind of time to do surgery on the cv boots, especially if I just do all that work just to find brinelling on the bearings. Does anyone know where to find the rebuilt OEM axles? And does anyone know what seals I'll need to get?

The driver side diff seal is 90311-47013. I don't have the passenger side part number because I did not have to buy one, but that should get your search started online or at a parts counter. You only need a new seal if you mess one up, like I did. They should be about $15 or less each.

Sorry, no info on rebuilds. It would be quicker and a whole lot cleaner if you could find some legit ones though.

Are the boots torn or are they leaking because the clamp is loose? I squirted more grease in there and used a new clamp. Takes 10 minutes and the only disassembly is to cut off the old clamp without cutting the boot.
